FWIW just spoke to ADVFN, they tell me the RNS's should be back to normal for tomorrow's open. Problem to do with their input feed allegedly.

We shall see!

AFC Energy Plc
Beta System Update & Notice of Results
30 June 2011

First Installation of Commercial Scale System

AFC Energy PLC (AIM: AFC), the developer of low cost alkaline fuel cells, is pleased to confirm that it continues to make good progress and is currently commissioning its first Beta alkaline fuel cell system.

Highlights

-- Completion of first stage of Beta system commissioning at Dunsfold, Surrey;

-- Good progress on completion of HAZOP (see footnote) with no onerous re-design requirements;

-- On track to deliver its commercial-scale Beta system once the HAZOP study is successfully complete;

-- Shareholder open days to be held in September/October.

The Company has made significant progress on completing the hazard and operability ("HAZOP") study and has incorporated the emerging improvements from that study into its first Beta alkaline fuel cell system. This system, which is being constructed at Dunsfold, Surrey, will provide the test bed and demonstration for future developments prior to, or in parallel with, deployment at partners' premises.

AFC Energy is also pleased to announce that this Beta alkaline fuel cell system has successfully completed the first phase of the commissioning process.

The Board of directors of AFC Energy ("Board") considers that the investment of time and effort in addressing the HAZOP systematically will have long term benefits in terms of partner confidence and commercial deployment of future systems. The Board is pleased to confirm that none of the issues arising from the HAZOP require a significant re-design of the system but acknowledges that it slightly under-estimated the time required to address all points comprehensively.

AFC Energy remains on track to deliver its commercial-scale Beta system once the HAZOP study is successfully complete.

AFC Energy is also pleased to advise shareholders that they will be able to see the first Beta system at the Company's premises in Dunsfold, Surrey during open days on 15 September and 12 October 2011. It is anticipated that this system will incorporate all of the improvements from the HAZOP. Places at the open days will be limited and are offered to all shareholders on a first come first served basis through the Company's website.

Ian Balchin, AFC Energy's Executive Deputy Chairman, said: "We are pleased with the continued rapid progress of this modular, commercial-scale product. We have found the HAZOP process to be extremely valuable and believe that it will stand us in good stead for the future. We are working closely with our commercial partners on the first sites for field demonstration."

Notice of Results

AFC Energy expects to update shareholders with further announcements concerning its progress with the Beta system shortly. The Company will also be announcing its results, for the six months to 30 April 2011, on Thursday 7 July 2011.

Note: HAZOP stands for hazard and operability analysis. A hazard and operability study is a systematic analysis of all foreseeable deviations from the normal situations (including disruptions of operations), the causes of these deviations, the consequences and the necessary actions.

You maybe right, however, those other competitors use expensive materials to produce there FC's, which will never come down in price as demand is rising for all commodities and one thing I have learnt is price matters whether a consumer or industry, at the end of the day for economy to stay competitive you need the lowest cost energy supply. I imagine the other FC companies will disappear without trace.

I expect there will be a delay in announcing the 50Kw beta trials delivery, like all development companies there are forever trying to improve the product to the point they never get something to market and start making money for themselves instead of burning share holders money.

If Linc buy there or are allotted a 2% holding on Monday then we should hear something, Linc have obviously decided to get in early before any announcement pre-empting any large rise in SP!! well that's hoping.

IPCC getting drubbing in telegraph, wind power useless, getting far to much of tax payers money. Even if they use rebalancing with AFC fuel cell it still seems a very costly way of producing Electricity.

Independent Technology Review Highlights

AFC Energy's strong progress in commercialising its fuel cell systems

AFC Energy PLC, the developer of low cost alkaline fuel cells, is pleased to announce that it has received a positive independent interim review of its technical activity from Dr Jon Helliwell, Project Manager, Fuel Cell Applications at the Centre for Process Innovation ("CPI").

AFC Energy provided Dr Helliwell with complete, unrestricted access to the Company and its technology for the purposes of the assessment and he was able to examine each area in detail. CPI previously published a review of AFC Energy's technology in November 2010.

In summary, the CPI's report states that there have been a number of significant developments since the last review.

The Company has:

· Produced a top level technology strategy for the next three years and linked all of its sub-plans and control systems to it;

· Frozen the basic design of its fuel cell system. The Beta System concept allows optimisation of individual components without the need to introduce major system changes. According to CPI it also, quite clearly, provides the scalability that the company needs.

· Developed electrolyte, fuel and oxidant handling systems which have the potential to be very low cost.

· Significantly improved its electrode performance without impacting on the overall design of the Beta system. CPI believes that the new designs will also enable the company to produce more durable systems. The development fits the company ethos of using existing volume processing methods wherever possible;

· Developed a comprehensive cost model based upon a bill of materials enabling it to gain detailed understanding of its cost base over time. In discussions with the technical team, CPI found that all team leaders were familiar with the cost model, how it worked, the numbers it contained and the future cost predictions that could be obtained from it. Further, they were all clearly using it as a tool to assess whether a particular development made sense, not only from a technology point of view, but also from a cost point of view.

· Assessed the barriers to CE-accreditation and CPI has seen no major issues with the control and electronics aspects of the system and is highly encouraged by the moves towards CE-accreditation: further evidence of a clear focus on commercialisation.

· Conducted a "freedom to operate" intellectual property search which demonstrates that it has a real opportunity to establish a commanding presence in the area of fuel cell technology.

· Improved information systems. It was quite clear during the review process that the quality of information available on the development plans, costs, technical milestones and other areas of the business was significantly higher than in previous visits. The information systems within the business are now greatly improved and the company is clearly maturing as it grows.

The detailed content of the report is commercially sensitive and the AFC Energy board has decided that to make a more detailed version of it available would not be in the overall best interests of the Company.

Dr Jon Helliwell, Project Manager, Fuel Cell Applications, CPI said:

"I was given full access to the technology and commercial plans for the business and believe that they offer a robust route to full commercialisation. I am encouraged by the progress that has been made. It is quite clear that the Company is maturing as it increases its focus on the delivery of its technical and commercialisation programme. It has increased its experience base in manufacturing and it is ensuring that it captures all the potential value from its technology programme. I firmly believe that it will deliver its technology and commercialisation plans."

Ian Balchin, AFC Energy's Executive Deputy Chairman, said:

"The purpose of the independent review is to demonstrate the extent to which AFC Energy is making technical progress towards its goal of the lowest cost alkaline fuel cell system. This latest report is the fifth to be carried out, and as with previous reviews the highlights give a glimpse into the rapid and substantial progress being made by our hard working team."

I was surprised to hear on the Den Brook wind farm wars program, they stated that the Government can offset our carbon reduction foot print using the maximum output from a wind turbine 1.5mw, no wonder they are so keen on wind farms, for myself I'm not for or against wind farms, however, there efficiency must come into question, I would be surprised if over a year they reach 50% output.
