it's reassuring to know I might recoup some of my (over-)trading losses with ii through future abdrn dividend payouts ... ;-)

Personally I'd clear out of India (just ask VOD!) and take on a niche businesses, as they are doing this year. spud

Would you rather own a UK investor platform or a share of the India subsidiary that is being run down to fund the breakup of SLA, debt repayment and dividends.

One thing this will do is make AJBell and Hargreaves potential targets….if it weren’t for their founders they would already be targets pts for LLoyds Schroders and others

Unrelated to the ii pitch..... I see from the RNS feeds that abrdn have been buying lots of National Express.

N.E. share price seems quite flat. Wonder what's afoot there?

Interesting play by Abrdn, seems in line with their strategy to develop the personal investor platform which is growing…. Not sure how the market will react, but agree they needed to make a play for future rather than treading water with buybacks. Need to increase revenues and clear strategy to grow, this should be their focus and ii can support that . Be interesting the take in the papers tomorrow. Things hotting up in several of my main stream investments in the last 4 months

CWA1, I know ... my point was tongue in cheek :))) But the effect on the ABDN share price on Monday is far more meaningful (to me at least!)

Interesting post Dave. Am a shareholder in ABDN and use Interactive Investor. Does this mean I will get £100 like LV Policy Holders to re-invest in ABDN shares?! I like II but ABDN have had a chequered life. If this possible acquisition makes my ABDN shares tank on Monday I won't be voting for this takeover! :)

Abrdn in £1.5bn talks to buy DIY stock-picker Interactive Investor
The FTSE-100 asset manager is in exclusive discussions about taking control of Britain’s second-biggest retail investment platform, with a deal possible as soon as this month, Sky News learns.

In today's paper it is reported that LV= policy holders will receive between £100 and £154 per person (probably per policy is what the paper should have stated).

I remember way back when S.L. first suggested de-mute. I rang the company and pressed them very hard to disclose a ball-park figure that I'd be looking at given my 5 With Profit endowments and 2 With Profit pension policies I had active at that time.

£60,000 was the estimate given to me over the 'phone.

OK, I'm not stupid enough to think that was exact - but it was a rough value. One derived from dividing the estimated worth of the company by the sum of the With Profit policy values - possibly factoring in a time element (length held or remaining duration to maturity I could not say).

I voted to de-mute. The majority didn't.

We move on a few years and on the second attempt the vote passes. I still had the same policies in place and I received shares valued at about £6,000 at that time. Still a reasonable amount.

So, £100 - £154 for LV= members?

Somebody is having a laugh.

yes the management of lv are trying to change the rules by going to court so they can sell lv and make a packet of money against the wishes of the mutual owners..

there was talk of 10 million being paid to the md in shares of the new company..

we have our house and car insurance with lv which gives good deals so i expect the prices to rise through the roof after the sale as happened with saga when that was sold off..

Yeh, Chinese Investor :-)

I also got these 'free' when they demute'd.

God help LV= if they also demutualise. I think it takes a different mindset to run a company compared to a mutual organisation. The two are not at all compatible.

I think it should be a given that any company changing from mutual to listed should shed ALL senior management in the process. The thought that the upper echelons could make more money from the sale of a mutual company than most (if not all) of the mutual owners is, in my opinion, borderline 'criminal'.

Problem with ABRDN the news drip is switched off for all but X2 per year. The share price and direction of the company are never clear between the drips !

CFE Stephanie has a track record of calling the bottom of the March 2020 Covid crash - to the day. Catching the bottom of a falling knife is an arcane ability and one can only conclude that a large player stepped up and started to accumulate. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. Abdn have huge cash resources. Clearly, there is long term support in the £2.40 - £2.50 area. Failing another general market October crash, this could be a good entry point

More likely that the scenario of the CFO not having put a single penny of their own towards shares after over two years in the job was finally becoming untenable?Either way I'm sure the £500k salary and up to 350% bonus and the first tranche of her £750k of golden hello shares will tide her over until the share price recovers to the buy price...

she has probably invested it Long term gone down because to much going on at the moment on the FTS she should have some inside information so let’s see what the share price will be in 18 months unless they is a market crash in the USA which will take us down with it
