01/11/2024 09:32 | Indeed. At least they can't take our dividend payouts away from us (unless we re-invested them in ABDN) ;-0 | mister md

01/11/2024 05:11 | Come on admit it that was a little scary yesterday. Halloween living up to its name ? New month upon us still unwilling to commit ahead of Presidential elections in the states but hopefully result will give a bit of clarity. As it stands and if the dividend is maintained at previous levels there are a few bargains around at the moment all paying over 10%. My usual suspects Abdn, Lgen, Mng, Phnx. Did take a few GSK yesterday 1385 near 12 month lows. But the 'Safe' stalwarts all suffered along with the rest Dangerous times Take care and Good luck | jubberjim
01/11/2024 00:59 | A long time ago I had the investment idea that if I looked for a share that had fallen but was a well known named company then sooner or later it would come good again. Yes that was a very young (too young to buy shares) and naive self. However I do think there is some merit in it, if you avoid the likes of Marconi and Debenhams - run by idiots there is an idea that Aberdeen's underlying business is not that hard. Surely all they need to do is replace management with someone who can run it properly and bingo , with institutions losing money in the run up to Xmas bonus season does this provide a catalyst for a change ? | fenners66
31/10/2024 23:54 | It still can, particularly if the BoE cut interest rates as expected, but clearly the gilts market hasn't reacted positively to the budget. But as a long term investor I am happy to continue to hold at the current share price and collect the dividends whilst waiting for the markets to improve and for the new CEO to try and turn things around. Are you currently short, if not, what is your particular interest in ABRDN? | pj84
31/10/2024 18:27 | PJ84 says * whereas the 35p drop could easily reverse * Well it?s a 40p loss now - how will it *easily* reverse Clueless, absolutely clueless | mr bernard castle

31/10/2024 18:01 | A break of the 3 year low should confirm a new longer term down trend. | my retirement fund
31/10/2024 15:52 | This company really has been led by donkeys over the past decade. How many of the major corporate actions have led to a gain in shareholder value? Or even not led to significant destruction. I've held these since flotation. The dividend used to pay for a moderate night out. Barely gets a round in these days. Would cost me £50 to sell them with their platform now so little incentive to do so, given thats 12% of their value. | dr biotech
31/10/2024 15:41 | Took a few more down here Just hope the dividend holds up Luck | jubberjim

31/10/2024 09:52 | mr castle, constructive input is always welcome. Humour likewise. Please let us know which when you post. However, if you look at the two year chart there's a few occasions when the drop has been reversed. Overall, the trend has been downwards I accept, but it's not a straight line. If you buy/sell at the correct times you can make a profit, and if you buy low and hold for the long term those dividends do add up. I see ABDN have fared better (less painful perhaps) than a couple of other, similar shares I hold. | mcunliffe1
31/10/2024 08:00 | * whereas the 35p drop could easily reverse *COULD easily reverse !!!?? BWAHAHAHA | mr bernard castle
30/10/2024 20:16 | Unless your demise is before 2027 (I believe Apr 27) but I hope we both have a few decades left but if my demise is much sooner, then avoiding any IHT might be the silver lining. | pj84
