£20k/yr in to an ISA is a ridiculously high limit

Don't forget the Government will looking at CGT, IHT, Pension Tax, Stamp Duty, etc.
Not good for "Investment Vehicles" such as ABDN !

Netcurtains it's a complete mess, a merger with Standard life was never going to end well and buying Interactive Investor for insane money may take a generation to recover from. Never-ending revolving door career CEO appointments are likely to make things worse as had already been seen over the last decade. Unless they get lucky and manage to find a true entrepreneur with interests correctly aligned with shareholders, bargepole it.

Mcun, I don't like to think about changes to isas!

Had a very good run with them and thought they'd get restrictions or the chop for the last several years. Pretty sure they're an easy target now, and will get some rough treatment in the budget.

But they do consist of money on which tax has been paid - the only thing which may moderate the tax grab from them. I think my high tax free income is coming to an end and it will be a moderate tax free income soon.

Anyway whatever the reason for early morning fall it appears, at this new price, that ABDN is in step with the rest of the big finance companies....

Hopefully if they all rise, so will ABDN

ISAs cost billions in lost revenue on tax free income. I've always thought £20k a year is too generous so wouldn't be surprised if it was reduced to £10k with a cap on overall contributions. The super rich have been able to consistently put £20k a year in ISAs and consequently will be raking in thousands of tax free dividends. The whole purpose of ISAs is to encourage small investors, not make the rich even richer.

Morning Pierre: I know you are not a fan of pensions and, if I recall correctly, are a fan of ISA's.

What's your expectation of any changes to ISA's in the budget?

I have no idea. Bemused.

Any update is a good excuse for churn. 1.75% to the institutions when they buy or sell. Part of transferring pension pot money to the city.

Other than that I don't see any need for the drop (that's not to say there isn't one).

Does anyone know why this has fallen?
I thought it sounded a good update to me...

What was the key phrase that caused this stampede to the door?
Or is it just mindless panic (as is often proved the case)

If I was referring to your good self I would preface my remarks with 'self serving , sanctimonious, windbag' who takes a perverse delight in strutting his intelligence while equally showing his ignorance.

I have never questioned your abilities ? or what positions you hold in which shares

I posted my view of my take on the figures and as I am already sufficiently invested elsewhere why I choose to enhance my options by staying out for next few days.

I fully expect the stock market to make a move after the USA elections and hopefully will be in the right direction.

Concentrate on your own affairs and stop ridiculing others.

Thank goodness for II growth but if Reeves mucks about with SIPP’s in next weeks budget, then Abdn may take a further hit.

If you're referring to me Jibber, then I'm simply posting my views too. Your deduction from given facts is all awry, hence why I think your ponderings are self condictorary.

I don't think the long term view for abdn is at all anything to be worried about, hence I've just topped up with 15000 at 150.51. All cash in the isa from divis, Still lots more cash from divis to find a home. Whether the price does up or down 10p from here tomorrow is of no concern to me - but I hope it rises from here on a 2/3 year view.

I try to be helpful and post my views

I try not to disparage other posters we are all having a rough time of it and tempted though I am at these levels sticking to my guns.

Long Av. Lgen and Phnx and Abdn is now coming into range

Don't take your frustrations out on others

All the best
