STOCK EXCHANGE ANNOUNCEMENT PIZZAEXPRESS PLC DIRECTORS' INTEREST - PURCHASE OF SHARES UNDER EMPLOYEE SHARE INCENTIVE PLAN On 9 June 2003, the following directors purchased ordinary shares of 10 pence each under the rules of the PizzaExpress Employee Share Incentive Plan ("the Plan"), an Inland Revenue approved all employee share purchase plan. Director Shares purchased Price Paul Campbell 34 375p John Metcalf 33 375p David Page 33 375p David Sykes 33 375p Nick Taylor 33 375p Each director was also allocated the above number of ordinary shares under the matching rules of the Plan, at a price of 375 pence per share, the beneficial ownership of which will pass to them in three years' time, subject to continuing employment with the Company and retention of the purchased shares. On 9 June 2003, the PizzaExpress PLC UK Employee Benefit Trust purchased a total of 4,005 ordinary shares, and awarded 4,005 ordinary shares to employees at the above price. Nigel Colne, Paul Campbell and John Metcalf are trustees of the Employee Benefit Trust, and therefore have a non-beneficial interest in these shares.
