Gac141, you sound more and more like the so-called US president...

"the opportunities are plenty" - sure but where are they..

"up to 30 plants where VLS could put in kit" - keep dreaming...

"With regard to Asia much progress has been made in the last year and in the longer term I expect this area to be extremely valuable to the company" - based on which facts?

"reliably informed that much progress is being made" - again where are the facts to substantiate this remark..

"VLS is growing up" - it should be mature and making "huge" profits after 15 years...

"balance sheet actually looks moderately healthy" - is this based on the fact they will run out of cash around mid-year?

"the next year is looking increasingly exciting and progress is looking as good as it has for a long time" - I am sure 2020 is looking even more exciting...

Sorry, I could not resist...

Malcy's Blog

I recently met with David Pummell, CEO of Velocys, a company I have always found most interesting, if not usually rather too far away from visible progress. On meeting David again he greeted me with a glass jar and significant smile, a jar of wax made by VLS only 15 years after conception. With a plant now capable of making the product the key is how to leverage it and bring it to the market. The ENVIA plant in Oklahoma is the first smaller scale commercial GTL plant in the world and the opportunities are plenty, most important, these things are done in partnership which VLS have been building lately.

The company has a number of avenues to follow which shows important diversity and risk aversity, industries, technologies and geographies help to give balance and avoid any single market. These include focusing on the renewable jet fuel market in the US, stranded gas onshore in Canada and a number of ‘significant’ opportunities in Asia. The former has a substantial addressable market in the US for jet and diesel, up to 30 plants where VLS could put in kit and of course without doing the heavy lifting, design, build and hand over the keys is the mantra. Partnerships have been and will continue to be important, indeed take the potential with fuel traders with their need for credits, VLS have made a significant hire in this area already. Refiners and feedstock owners also come into this category as do airlines who will see increasing regulation on fuel blendings.

With regard to Asia much progress has been made in the last year and in the longer term I expect this area to be extremely valuable to the company. The size of the plants in China, made in partnership will be the most cost effective in the market and of course here, as in the USA, bank financing and loan guarantees are available at the right times. I am reliably informed that much progress is being made in some key areas in China particularly where stranded gas is also a problem.

As time moves on there is little doubt that VLS is growing up, last years raise and a much lower cash burn helps and the balance sheet actually looks moderately healthy, by its standards. Shareholders appear to be highly supportive, the next year is looking increasingly exciting and progress is looking as good as it has for a long time.

No, I'm a great believer in chart patterns, and can easily see the mirroring effect of the 2015 descent, with up/down oscillations between 70 & 90. The question is, which side will it break, and what is likely to be the catalyst. As stated, I think the elephant in the room is funding.

When and indeed IF a fund raise is required I can assure you it will be no way near 50p!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Gac, could you please expand? What is your view of the company's strategy, and timescale, including in respect of funding going forward. I'm sure others here would also find it useful.

Thanks,

B5

Time we had some decent news on the REd Rock project, isn't it? The company tell me that RR is still trying to raise finance for the project; perhaps Trump might make it easier.

Thanks Fluky. Fwiw I've halved my stake here, which I'm happy to do since it's doubled. I tend to agree that a co. like this without much cash but with a strong story to sell in the shape of ENVIA and its strategic alliances would be mad not to use an exuberant share price to raise much needed capital. 50p rights issue, and I might even participate!

Hmm....Not good...looks like we are going to get some news, obviously some are already privy. When I see an share price drop like this makes me wonder if we're going to get a cash call, do they have enough for accounts to be signed off for another year....

Are they large volume sells since this morning? Hoping it's a shake down in anticipation of new partnerships/orders on Monday. Fingers crossed :-/

Gloomy I did. And your 125p was on the basis of VLS still being in business at xmas. If they are not (or taken private) you can remind us again of your 3343.

Brucie5: the time to profits is years away. Velocys has an empty order book and they need to sell plants equivalent of about 5000 bpd per year to break even. See my post #2968.

I'd be expecting another assault on the 90/100 level, and then if that fails, it may be that the share price falls back to trend. While the underlying tech seems to have been proven, I wonder what the time to profits is likely to be.

This needs serious new interest from fund managers to show it has potential. The story is good but old and worn. Abramovitch alone doesn't make the business any better. It needs some action rather than agreements and promises. I'll be reducing my holdings over time unless we hear something worthwhile very soon, and something that actually translates to £££;££s.

That's very brave, EJ. To me the chart looks overbought, and following the Envia commissioning, I'm not sure what news we're waiting for short term to excite the market further. But you've played a blinder here thus far.. so more grease to your elbow. I still hold for the longer view, but may reduce.

Convert CO2 into ethanol with a catalyst containing copper nanoparticles in a carbon matrix. Needs electricity.

This really is a symptom that there is lots of research going on into (a) the ways to deal with CO2 and (b) the ways to produce useful fuel.

Good find, Musard but bad news for Velocys: the expected revenues from the Red Rock Biofuels plant will arrive in 2018. At least Velocys could use the ENVIA start-up to boost their fundraising activities.

The September date was delayed due to further information being required I believe. Maybe this time all is set?....
