runthejoules - I appreciate the kind words. I wouldn't be too hard on yourself. Good timing is always difficult....impossible in my experience!

I am less comfortable with the "buy on the rise" approach. I prefer to try and find a level where the share seems to have found a support level (I got that wrong with VLS at 65p! But I had my earlier 39p trade to cover the subsequent losses) and where it seems to be undervalued and even a bit unloved! I am extra cautious though as I am doing spread bets and they are less forgiving for bad timing...

At these levels VLS is a bit of a steal IMHO if you are investing in their shares and time is of little consequence. It was trading at this level prior to the ENVIA product announcement. How does this make sense?! Mr. Market is clearly in a 'pessimistic mood'!

The lack of customer wins isn't helping but who knows what's going on behind closed doors. You would expect interest from the Japan presentation.

For now I am going to sit and wait to see what happens but you guys are like friends so I am hoping that VLS provide a killer update next week. If Mr. Market becomes even more irrational (perhaps on small volumes as you describe) I will be placing my trade!

Best of luck!

I'm glad you're out bigshortfella. I was daft to buy in halfway throught the latest spike, expecting some progress news, but only £1k. Maybe Tuesday. These will I hope be falls on small volume on a slack trading day? (don't have level 2 yet, can't figure it out)

It would be good for VLS to get some investor coverage. I pinged SCSW an email back in February to suggest that they may want to initiate coverage again (they recommended VLS as a buy back in 2014) considering the positive news about ENVIA. They told me that they would pass my comments on to the editor but I didn't receive a further response.

The May issue of SCSW comes out tomorrow...Here's hoping for you guys...

I too am disappointed not to have results this week but maybe the bank holiday has disrupted the timing. I also hope that the delay could be for update reasons. We know that they are working on a number of projects and the full capacity at ENVIA must be on the cards. So in my optimistic way I am looking forward to this update..Maybe Tuesday???

Disappointing that no results have been released yet. Previous years it was around 28 April, which in itself was a month slower than most companies with a 31/12 year end. Hopefully a slip into May, or even June (!) will be for good reason but personally I don't favour unnecessary delays of this nature - particularly when a CFO is earning in excess of £200K base salary. Perhaps the directors are too busy debating how many share options to award themselves for dragging the share price back above 50p...!

gac141, any positive spin on the matter ?!

gac141: I agree with your assessment. According to their bio at the Velocys website Allonby and Chatterji both brought "considerable experience in the banking and finance sector to Velocys." I always wondered why the board had 2 people with such overlapping background. I would suggest that they add someone who can make connections in the XTL world. The past board members, Verloop and Jamieson, had that necessary background.

The company has evolved and the strategy has changed since Mark was brought on board. Maybe they don't need his services anymore as other options are working out.

I'm not sure about that , runthejoules. It's a bit 'cloudy' .
Good news / bad news : it's a job to know.

So was the Chair getting the push the good news the market was waiting for then sold on? Or was it better news, like the Q1, it was waiting for & didn't like the disruption / disappointment?

OK, thanks haydock. It's the minor daily notes I was after. My own 'research' says we need to push through 68pence again to begin looking bullish cloud-wise. That's on the so-called 'daily' chart. Some of these web-sites take a bit of getting used to so I'll be going back to the one you reference . Cheers.

Personally I am a simple interpreter of the cloud.
If we go above, then things will be up & I can see a very thin band approaching.

The minor daily notes often vanish, as they are too sensitive.

I watch the cloud & the trailing Chikou Span Cross, if they both go bullish & above we are in business.
imho.
dYOR.

I see the chair was paid 80k in 2015. He seems to have presided over the exceeding of board remuneration cap and was grumpy with shareholders at the AGM. I would prefer the 80k spent on other things. Seems excessive to me.

Indeed we were very top heavy on directors and I don't think it is any loss at all apartment from the positive on the balance sheet. Let's see what Velocys has to say in its statement....

I am sure we have more than one iron in the fire.

Would that be the same Chair that got grumpy when PIs had the temerity to ask questions at last years AGM. oh yes it appears so. perhaps he feels less is more ;)

haydock, thank you for your post 228. As I read it, the share price needs to stay at or above where it is now for a day or two & not drop back thereby 'activating' a bearish cross down again straightaway. Am I correct in seeing it that way? I am not familiar with the detail of cloud charting.
