The quality of information imparted by some posters on here is abysmal and misleading.

Just for the record, the Director resigning is NOT Dave Lewis (he was Richard Cousins) and he was NOT an Executive Director (just a Non Exec who had only been on the board for a couple of years and has the CEO position in another major PLC - Compass Group - which may well have been the reason for him resigning especially as a few months before he became a member of the Tesco board he had resigned as a Non Exec on another board for that very reason).

The suspicion that private investors are being kept out of the loop etc etc, especially given the fantasies dreamt up by some on here is laughable, as well as probably sad in terms of their abilities as investors.

More for the filter...........

Alibx, total agree on all of your points. Long term, I don't doubt Tesco will be the winner of all the big four.

Thanks for clearing that up a bit but you have to understand that private investors always have to trade on hope, don't matter how good a company is if institutions and MM's choose to run it down to fill an order that makes them money then no private buyer can make a difference, we're along for the ride.

All you can do is hope you've got on board as the shares head in the right direction for you.

News nearly always leaks out ahead of time, a nod here a wink there, we'll never be in the club, laws of nature I'm afraid.

Cost cutting is not a bad thing, it's thinking and planning ahead as far as I'm concerned.

8 months of conseq. growth, increased market share, I'm holding for a while yet, nothing in the update or the recent trading has me in anyway concerned.

Think of my comments more referring to the trading update as oppose to the long term direction of Tesco. That's where I was to be in and out, even if it'd "gone to the moon" on the update I wouldn't if held long after. It was just a few noteworthy points along the way in terms from upcoming trading updates.

alibx11...just wondering if you have misunderstood post 18614...the Director leaving is not DL but one of the other Executive Director...just the timing of Director departure news ahead of trading update tend to bring doubters...

I halved my position 4:25 the day before the trading update, due to the volume irregularities. Whether it was fear or gut feeling I'm not sure. As portside points out something leaked to the big boys and left the private investor to trade on hope. Director leaving just before the update is a flagCost cutting announced before the update I felt was a flagVolume has proved to be vital - porty nice one on giving this one the flagI've now closed out completely as I've come to conclusion all the big money left the 2 days running up to the announcement. Could be wrong completely, but when they return I'll look to jump back in. All the best and hope it's goes in whichever direction it good for you :-)

You sound like a man who has lost or is deficit for a considerable amount of money.
My own view Is that DL is doing a very good job of turning Tesco around. As said before,Food Retailing is extremely competitive at the moment and the job he is doing is not easy. The fault lies with previous management for not seeing the warning signals of competition from other retailers and very poor fiscal discipline, which was a shambles.
With a co. as big as Tesco it takes time to turn the ship around.

Investing is always risky and you have to assess that risk with a co.before parting with money. Sometimes you buy a dud and you feel it is not your fault, but unfortunately that is life. I had a massive loss with RBS so I know how you feel.

However with Tesco I feel relatively happy with ongoing performance. My local Tesco express which I know is just a tiddler has been transformed and provides excellent service.
All your shouting is not to make one fig of difference, so relax and chill,or sell.
R.
