I am not expecting much movement in share price --- the drop yesterday might give us a an excuse at blue day. 210-215p range is my guess for the day.I will just hold for now.

Weaker pound also proving beneficial from Asian operations. Lets hope the market reacts to the results positively.

Looking ahead
We are well-placed against the medium-term aspirations we outlined in October 2016 and we are on track to deliver at least GBP1.2bn Group operating profit before exceptional items for the full year.
We will report our full year results on 12 April 2017.

SUSTAINED STRONG PERFORMANCE AT TESCO:
THIRD SUCCESSFUL CHRISTMAS; +1.1% GROUP LFL GROWTH FOR LAST 19 WEEKS

Headlines

Third Quarter (13 weeks ended 26 November 2016)

· Group like-for-like sales growth of 1.5%

o UK like-for-like sales growth of 1.8%

§ First quarterly market share gain since 2011

§ Eighth consecutive quarter of like-for-like volume growth

o International like-for-like sales growth of 0.6%, building on last year's strong performance and reflecting a more competitive environment in Poland

Christmas (six weeks ended 7 January 2017)

· Group like-for-like sales growth of 0.3%

o UK like-for-like sales growth of 0.7%

§ Food like-for-like sales up 1.3%, with significant market outperformance in fresh food

§ Impact of (0.8)% on total UK like-for-like sales from not repeating Clubcard 'Boost' promotion, leading to lower general merchandise sales

§ Strong performance in clothing and toys, with sales up 4.3% and 8.5% respectively

o International like-for-like sales performance of (1.2)% reflects a particularly strong seasonal performance last year in addition to weaker consumer spending in Thailand

Dave Lewis, Chief Executive:
"We are very encouraged by the sustained strong progress that we are making across the Group. In the UK, we saw our eighth consecutive quarter of volume growth and delivered a third successful Christmas. Our fresh food ranges proved particularly popular, outperforming the market with great quality, innovative new products and even more affordable prices. Internationally, we have continued to focus on improving our offer for customers in challenging market conditions.

We are well-placed against the plans we shared in October to become more competitive for customers, simpler for colleagues, and an even better partner for our suppliers, whilst creating long-term value for our shareholders.

I would like to thank all of our colleagues for everything they have done to serve our customers brilliantly over this very busy period."

Something certainly doesn't seem right - 30 million sells yesterday and by the time today's over I wouldn't be surprised if sells are over and above buys

portside1 - I don't understand where you are coming from? Market markers? It's SETS traded. If I go onto the book now and buy 100,000 it will tick up simple as.

Buying and selling here isn't really relevant, if someone is buying someone is also selling. Obviously today there is a big seller in the market.

Quite often Porty a big sell will only be reported once the order has been filled.

I'm quite sure we will end the day blue here and I'm quite confident they will anounc a bumper Christmas, I work at one of the distribution centres and we had our busiest Christmas on record, most of the stores we service are also telling us they have broken all records.

I'd expect our results to be good, however how much of that is already priced in ? We all know the agenda, the results could be great but share price falls due to some made up story about "slightly under analysts expectations". The market is crooked and the only guarantee is that the PI loses.

Portside, excuse my nativity on MMIf they have loaned out shares (I'd presume at an interest), then if the news is bullish then it would be in their (MM) interest to move the price high so they buy the on hold shares higher?I noticed the 30 million sell yesterday, which would make me think someone knew something yesterday?
