Actually only 500 job losses. Waitrose xmas trading down 1.4%. every little helps. Not sure about others out there but Tesco's ability to sell other stuff other than food is a massive plus. ie My wife bought 2 computers for the kids as well as a host of other toys this year.

Tesco's share price will be up tomorrow. Nothing the city boys like more than a company shedding staff / saving money ! .... unless its their highly paid jobs, going to europe.

From what I hear they came out clean(waste under control)having worked for Tesco in the past waste at xmas is everything.

Well it looks as if Tesco are likely to report good xmas sales on Thursday. I guess the only concern now is margins, lets hope they are not being squeezed to much.

Yes they have been mentioned in the ST a couple of times today........haven't read the full article but glad I hung onto my few TSCO shares.

The Kantar data for sales to New Years Day will be made public next week but is probably available to Martin Sorrell's best mates in advance. Hard to read anything concrete into recent price movements, it suggests MRW had a good crimbo and TSCO didn't but that could be what they want you to think...
