25/9/2005 20:50 | yep, I've been watching decent size sells going through too and the price hasn't flinched other than a penny tick up and down by the mm's just to trigger sellers imo. Someone is buying them - my bet is it's the bidder picking up stock below the bid price. More than one bidder would be good. CR | cockneyrebel
25/9/2005 20:38 | No, but I should be interested to know who bought the 700k shares sold by Artemis. Meanwhile, there was a brief note in Friday's Investor's Chronicle - a mention of the bid talks, followed by this advice: IC View: Teesland's shares have climbed 20% since it announced the discussions. Its attractive profile means there should be no shortage of interest from bidders besides the mystery candidate. Hold on. | diogenesj
25/9/2005 14:49 | Anyone got the full article on citywire today? | tole
24/9/2005 13:53 | Sounds good, Tole, and the Guardian's rumours have proved pretty accurate recently. Yesterday's Mail suggested that 3 or 4 potential bidders might be interested, which is also encouraging. | diogenesj
21/9/2005 20:02 | Yes, they would have to set up a committee of independent directors (though I'm not sure they would have to say so at this stage). Trouble is, there is no such thing as an independent director, especially in these small companies. Anyway, let's hope it's an outside bid, in which case the directors are on our side. | diogenesj
21/9/2005 18:27 | Encouraging to see price shading only 1p today on marked increase in volume traded (nearly 1.7million) despite general decline in the market as a whole. | njl53
20/9/2005 18:07 | I think if the approach was from the management, the company would probably have had to say that in the RNS and set up a committee of independent directors to deal with the negotiations. Share price today suggests the market is looking for an offer of over 100p. | njl53
20/9/2005 15:24 | Guardian say rumours of 120-130p bid | nurdin
20/9/2005 12:51 | Well, I hope you're right, njl. If the management is involved, they will try to get it on the cheap, in which case I don't suppose we can expect much more than 93p. | diogenesj
20/9/2005 11:57 | Another possible bidder is Syndicate Asset Management (SAM) which recently bid an 88 per cent premium for Ashcourt Holdings and said then: 'SAM has been established as a strategic investment company specifically to build a fund management group. It is intended that this will be achieved by consolidating a number of existing fund management companies in a way that allows the fund managers to pursue their own business strategies whilst benefiting from the economics of scale that can be derived from being part of a larger group. SAM aims to achieve long term capital growth for its Shareholders through the purchase of other unquoted and quoted fund management companies and through the organic growth of businesses already owned. SAM will actively manage any investments it makes with the management of subsidiary companies being encouraged to pursue business strategies that will result in growth of revenue and profitability. It is expected that acquisitions will principally be based in the UK. Acquisitions may also however include businesses that are located elsewhere in the EU and other "offshore" centres.' | njl53
19/9/2005 18:56 | Chairman of Teesland. K C McCabe, seems to be same person as chairman of Fairbriar which he took private last month with backing from major Asian company called CPL - could be a similar exercise with same partners?? | njl53
19/9/2005 16:32 | Fair value 93p, imo. Add 20% for the takeover premium, say 112p. Just a guess, of course - and these things often come to nothing. | diogenesj
19/9/2005 15:50 | Any idea what takeout price is likely to be? | charlie100
19/9/2005 14:57 | Oops, never mind, R. Happens to us all (especially me). :-) | diogenesj
19/9/2005 12:24 | Such a thought would never cross my mind, nurdin. | diogenesj
19/9/2005 11:53 | Excellent timing thats all I can say.Surely cant be anything else can it? | nurdin
19/9/2005 11:44 | The extraordinary coincidence of the directors buying when they did is almost enough to make one believe in a benevolent Providence. What very happy and fortunate people they are. | diogenesj
19/9/2005 11:41 | Bid approach confirmed! :-) CR | cockneyrebel
13/9/2005 17:16 | that's some big trades after the close - interesting. CR | cockneyrebel |
