I don't own Ariana but imho Stratex has more going for it. Despite this there are other gold/silver stocks with far better management and track records of creating substantial shareholder wealth. Most tend to be listed in Canada and not on AIM. I spoke to a few companies at the mines and money conference and to be brutally honest their management teams are top draw. You get what you pay for though.

Vosene - I hope sentiment fades even further if those Goldstone results fail to materialise because I will be buying more of these at the right level. IMHO, what will drive up this company's share price is not drilling results from another company but news of cash coming into the Stratex bank account from Altintepe Madencelik. Lots of it and by my reckoning not too far away either.

@42Col - a number of investors on this thread bought in at 1-2p a while back and are most definitely in profit. If AAU is up on the year, with most of any increase due to this sale likely factored in and little reason to expect further increases in the reasonable future, then taking some profit and shifting it to another stock that has yet to climb seems perfectly sensible to me.

Please no ! we already have more than enough problems of our own working in this jurisdiction without confounding our problems with more projects within the same region.

Can't see either Marcus or Kerim stepping back to let that happen?

42Col,

What are your views on the potential shareholder benefits of merging Stratex and Ariana? Here at Stratex the annual administration costs are about £1m which would presumably be reduced if combined with another similar small company with operations in the same places.

4col - thank you for your reply. It's probably best to agree that we have different perspectives and leave it at that. I would not deliberately put AAU down and apologise if it seemed that way. All the best to you with your investment.

Charles I am not trying to discredit you, I am not trying to ramp Ariana on this bb. All I see is that you have sold your shares (before the Salinbas deal) and you are telling the wourld why you have. Yes the reasons you state in your post 13170 were the ones you gave when you sold but not about raising funds for drilling at Salinbas. I did not say you have lost money in Ariana but if you have been a long term investor in Stratex it would be a miracle that you have not lost money here (others can judge). When you say 'friends and contacts on the AAU thread' you mean fellow investors - I have seen the relationship between the investors on this thread change dramatically and one disadvantage nobody seems to state about STI is that many have an exit price and they will exit
Tadtech - I was at the same presentation in 2015 and yes it did seem that there would be a quick sale but the share price is above that spike. Credit to Kerim and the company they pulled great deal out of the hat with Salinbas

One thing that disappointed me regarding AAU was when Kerim implied Salinbas could be sold for $30m ($15m to AAU) and actually demonstrated this valuation at a Proactive event in June 2015.

It really was a strong promote at the time and Kerim seemed confident of concluding a deal, everyone attending thought it would be sold by Xmas that year. No doubt many bought on that basis as the shares spiked strongly the next day, soon after there was a placing, they raised £1m at a fair discount.

Now they have acquired the partners stake for next to nothing!

Having spoken to both Kerim and Marcus at Mines & Money I would say, without doubt, Marcus was more optimistic. Ariana will have to start paying back their share of the loan from cash generated via production + there will be other costs associated with a new mine.

I would personally prefer to be in Stratex moving into 2017 where all should become clear on mine revenues and 1st cash receipt. Not to mention a new proven CEO.

42col - If your 13167 is an attempt to try and discredit me or ramp AAU on this thread I am surprised at you. Number 1 - I don't have to justify my reasons for selling AAU to anyone but thought that I should try and explain for the sake of my friends and contacts on the AAU thread. I said that imho there is nothing wrong with AAU but felt that, due to the prevailing political situation at the time, my exposure to Turkey was too large so I made a choice between STI and AAU. STI I feel has better short/medium term upside because it already has a mine producing, what I believe will be, c.40koz p.a. On the other hand AAU will have to raise many millions for development of Salinbas and the company, with its loans, will not be profitable for several years mining Red Rabbit. I don't know where or from whom you get your information from but to date I assure you I have not lost any money in either AAU or STI.

Charles - sorry but the reasons for selling Ariana do not stack up. When you sold Ariana you said they were heading for 1.45p (today the sell is 1.70p). You sold before the Salinbas deal which is amazing almost zero cash for an extra 500K oz. You've been in STI for a number of years and as you know in the last 3 years if you compare both companies STI is -55% and AAU is +30% (2 years -5%, AAU + 115%). Ariana has a longer mine life and they are drilling, they have Salinbas and Lithium interests. I have followed this board for the last 3 years and it has just fallen apart. The real reason you sold Ariana and not STI is that the loss in STI is too big and has nothing to do with Ariana's potential
