Maybe that was reason for PNDC testing, close seeding scheme off.

This reply was after Gigha units approved at PNDC and before shipping notification. From My view I see that we have plenty of working units out in field, Portugal has had one for years, e.on, Germany and Africa to mention others.

Personally don't believe there's any tech issue, fact Jabil have ordered one would suggest they believe having manufactured them and of course no-doubt seen results.

I honestly believe there's very good news around corner, this reply would suggest they aren't bothered about Gigha and Scott even said it was better having units at PNDC then at Gigha:-

3) We cannot share client data from Gen 1 market seeding sites, but the systems have met our expectations and we are confident with the operation of our core technology in these applications. All-in-all, we are pleased with the outcome of the market seeding programme

dogrunner11 - Agreed tech seems to work BUT having read all above posts since my 342 no proof yet - that I can see has been supplied that it works well and is cost effective under normal field conditons PLUS as pointed out some of the suppliers gone bust. - In this respect a bit like VLS - ITM - IEH - Nice technology but can it make investors money? - Jury very much still out (imo) .

At least we know there's nothing wrong with tech.

Gigha

The delay has been a planning issue, I have known about this since mid January if I remember correctly, it is under review with planners for breach of condition 2 which is prior written consent for units to be installed.

This paperwork was key responsibility of project manager who are EA Technology, I will stress this is not a redT mistake. That's the problem when so many fingers are in same pie.

So whilst it should be cleared any day now I have a couple of thoughts.

A) planning is not granted, units have still been PNDC tested and approved
B) planning approved Gigha gets installed next month everyone is happy
C) no planning then with recent job adverts saying working from Halifax I assume there's a plan B which is the new wind farm in Halifax, part of e.on that will be our new showcase centre.

I'd take option C with open arms, 2 job vacancies as I already posted this weekend clearly state this in travel.

In short there's no redT issue with Gigha, well not that they can control. Orders etc are being worked on as we know with tender due on 28/3 (posted this weekend) and a few others no-doubt.

8 weeks or so seems reasonable for resolution IMO.

pugugly a lot of those companies that installed the battery,s in the list from wikipedia have gone bust...REDT is still here ......and have been paid for Gigha installed or not, who really cares...if you bought one tomorrow I would not give a toss wheather you installed it or not so long as you paid for it..

dogrunner11 they have had a unit running at wokingham for a number of years, do you remember trouty slagging you off for suggesting that a motorbike would be run on a flow battery, now they are thinking of putting flow battery,s in computors....so how wrong was he.....

Just checked back in here after a few months out and what do you know, no sales and the same two rampers trying their best to stop the price falling! Scotty will be back for some more of your cash soon!

This was part of email back late last year, I estimate Thaba delivery last week or this week latest going by shipping times: -

2) The two 5kW-40kWh machines in Johannesburg, South Africa have been installed and we have been holding site visits at the location for prospective customers. Separately, to confirm, we have upgraded our project at the Thaba Eco Hotel from a Gen 1 to a Gen 2 machine which will be manufactured shortly

The thing about Gigha, Pugugly, is that there hasn't been any update from anywhere for about two years, so no-one really knows what is going on. It seems fairly certain that the RedT system has not been plugged in, but we don't really know why. I think it's fair to assume that the problem has nothing to do with RedT's system because if that was the case, we would no doubt have heard about it from elsewhere.

This is a community project, run by Community Energy Scotland. There was much being said about it in their web site two years ago, then nothing. No updates. I have emailed them asking for an update, but no reply. Community projects are very difficult to get right, very difficult to get off the ground. I suspect that if there has been a hold-up with RedT's battery, it will be because something has gone off the rails at the Community Project level, and not because RedT's battery doesn't work.

If the delay lies with the community, then I wouldn't expect RedT to issue a statement laying blame there. If RedT have been paid for the battery, it's not their problem any more. If they haven't been paid, then they can take it back.

I said it's a non-issue for RedT. I believe that to be the case, and if RedT doesn't get a sale, it's a fairly small deal anyway.

And I don't believe that they are relying on this project for verification that the system works. That will be happening elsewhere, and as one of RedT's systems is currently being shipped to a customer in Africa, I think we can safely assume that it works.

That's redT's BTW. Been operational for a few years.

vatnabrekk: Gigha is one of the "prove" locations - Maybe all is going well and store/balance is working well - If so no probs BUT if Gigha does not validate the cost effectiveness of the technology then (imo) major problems. THIS is why it matters PLUS othre players in the field of vanadium flow battery storage systems

Just some of the installations.
• A 1 MW, 4 MW•h (14 GJ) UniEnergy Technologies Energy Storage system (Uni.System) owned by Avista Utilities and installed in Pullman Washington in April 2015. The system is used for load shifting, distribution deferral and frequency regulation for Avista Utilities, and for backup power for critical loads at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories.[21]
• A 1.5 MW UPS system in a semiconductor fabrication plant in Japan.
• A 600 kW, six-hour system, installed by Prudent Energy in Oxnard, California, USA.[22]
• A 275 kW output balancer in use on a wind power project in the Tomari Wind Hills of Hokkaido.
• A 200 kW, 800 kW•h (2.9 GJ) output leveler in use at the Huxley Hill Wind Farm on King Island, Tasmania.
• A 250 kW, 2 MW•h (7.2 GJ) load leveler in use at Castle Valley, Utah.
• Two 5-kW units installed in St. Petersburg, Florida, under the auspices of USF's Power Center for Utility Explorations.
• A 100 kWh (360 MJ) unit supplied with 18 kW stacks manufactured by Cellstrom (Austria) has been installed in Vierakker (Gelderland, The Netherlands) as part of an integrated energy concept called 'FotonenBoer'/'PhotonFarmer' (InnovationNetwork/Foundation Courage).
• A 400 kW, 500 kWh (1.8 GJ) output balancer in use on a solar power project in the Bilacenge Village in Sumba Island, Indonesia.
• A 50 kW, 100 kWh (360 MJ) peak shaving for manufacturing facility in Gongju, South Korea.[23]
• A 5 kW, 60 kWh unit integrated with photovoltaic generation at University of Évora, Portugal.[24]
• A 100 kW, 1.26 MWh installation is planned for the island of Gigha, Scotland.[25]
• A 5 MW, 10 MW•h (36 GJ) system at the Woniushi wind power farm was connected to the Liaoning Power Grid, China, on 23 May 2013.[26]
• 1 MW, 5 MW•h (18 GJ) installed by Sumitomo Electric Industries in Yokohama.
• 100 kW, 600 kWh unit, installed by Prudent Energy & ABB in Kolarovo, Slovakia.
• 200 kW 800kWh unit, planned by Solibra System Montage in Koblenz, Germany.

Jabil are still committed to redT, only need look at recent anmocument of Jabil Inala purchasing our machine for one of their clients which could lead to mass orders from just telecoms Africa.

Problem is there's no problem but people are bored and working overtime with imagination!!

What's the confusion? Jabil potentially closing an office out of their 100 odd worldwide?

They have Germany, Ireland, Brazil, Africa, India etc etc all of which can make these units.
