as a function to BS inflation figs gold should be around $850
but more important as a hedge against currency depreciation
which must be in double figs, thxs to money printing, hence my
argument enhancing divi's by pitiful percentage amounts through buybacks,
is a complete waste of time,

but more important the value/pp of debt has halved in ten yrs,
A GAIN OF 10% A YR or losing same as a saver

Unusual for RRS to react to new about the performance of the business. On any conventional metric it has long been vastly overvalued as the best gold miner out there. The price to book is extreme and factors in a much higher gold price. The question is, will this continue to trade as a function of the gold price, or more like other miners. No position either way, before or after result today.

Can't believe the news is that bad to cause this massive drop. This is bringing the share back yo the price before brexit. I think a lot of stop losses are being triggered as well. The US may cause this to drop even further when it opens this afternoon.

looks like I was right & for the record I don't short stocks just know they would be watching this one after such a good run.

"If I wanted to buy GOLD?" Actually hold it yourself. In any emergency you won't have access to it if you don't and most of the traded gold is theoretical. When the Germans asked for theirs from the USA they were told they couldn't have it. Why? Because it probably doesn't exist.

ETFs on the precious metals include PHAU (Physical Gold) backed by numbered bars in a New York vault, PHAG is the silver equivalent, and PHPM covers a basket of precious metals. All these ETFs track the price of the metal in USD. There are Sterling equivalents.

guys, can someone educate me please.

If I wanted to buy GOLD or trade it, how best to do this? Not stocks but the gold price.


Secondly, with GOLD being the flavour of the day once again, I guess buying into GOLD and Silver stocks is a good one.


Whats the best way to see what stocks operate in the GOLD space. Am I able to search by sector or something on ADVFN or somewhere else.

Really chesty1, I would expect to start seeing consolidation
in the miners, with Randgold acquiring. I hold paf and have done
since 7p, I feel they will be snapped up soon. Gold is becoming
the place to be more and more each day with the terrible situations
happening around the world, a UK interest rate cut in August will
send the gold price through $1400 in my opinion.
