18/11/2016 08:51 | Gold always holds its own in the long-term. Central bankers have blown paper currencies to bits, and will continue to do so. Draghi has just stated that the ECB will continue with very accommodative policies until inflation is "embedded above 2% for a sustained period". They always go over the top as we all know. The Chinese will be mopping up as much physical gold as they can at these levels, so a superb opportunity to buy one of the truly magnificent gold stocks. Today's bullish RNS completely overshadowed by the unwarranted drop in bullion in any case. Just wait until Trump starts the ball rolling. Gold will soar over $3000 in the next few years. | professor pettigrew

18/11/2016 08:43 | Okay then. So we have a 15 year USD index high. So that crushes US exports and the increasing bond yields will do for the housing market, ability to fund fiscal stimulus etc. Looks bullish for the USD in the medium term. Buy gold. | bonio10000

18/11/2016 08:31 | dlewis1 18 Nov '16 - 08:11 - 5999 of 6000 Evianone your feeling was correct. Loss is more than yesterday's gain. Let's see if it recovers. It was not a feeling! Its simple analogy, the US$ is up then Gold is down. If the $ is down then Gold is up! Last night the US$ was strong so it was expected for gold stocks to fall. Look at Fresnillo id down too this morning. The whole sector is down. Same goes for oil. If oil prices are up the US$ is down and so with the commodities. Also is a constant war between currencies mostly Euro and the US$ A very good opportunity to Buy gold stocks for the long term, much safer than currencies and inflation beater, more versatile and always in demand. | christh
18/11/2016 08:28 | What a drop.....do you think this is a sustained period of dollar strength and gold weakness...how low do you think this could go | foxy22
