I dunno about that. Looks like there's a high volume buyer and seller fighting it out. Depends who finishes their trades first IMO, or if there is sufficient buying volume for the seller to sell into.

Patagonia Gold booms as Argentina returns to fold

Miners sees a US$10mln swing into profit as political situation, currency and gold price all converge in favour

Patagonia Gold plc (LON:PGD) surged back into profit as it rode a tailwind of higher gold prices, weak currency and an improving political situation.

The Argentina–based miner saw a US$10mln turnaround from losses into a profit of US$3.6mln in the six months to June, as production jumped by 70% to 16,900 ounces while cash costs almost halved to US$591 per oz.

Patagonia also closed its Lomada mine and has now switched production down the road to Cap Oeste.

First ore is on the heap leach pads with the sales of gold expected to start in October.

Patagonia added it has also started exploring beneath the mine to see if it justifies development underground.

Christopher van Tienhoven, chief executive, said: "The improved political and economic environment in Argentina has had a very positive effect on our business and has enabled us to significantly reduce operating costs and improve efficiencies.

“We are delighted that the initial open pit mine at Cap-Oeste is coming into production on time and within budget and the outlook for the second half looks promising.

“Our pipeline of projects and exploration targets, coupled with the more favourable economic climate, stands us in good stead to continue to grow.”

Very interesting presentation with a positive feel. I for one appreciate their efforts to keep shareholders informed of progress and provide future guidance. With what they have going on there should be consistent newsflow on a range drilling and mining developments in the not too distant future.

Look at the current liabilities v current assets, another placing likely though unlikely to be as large as the May funding.

justino. Agreed. It reads well. There is a professional tone with plenty of possibilities for upside.

Impressive update. Cap Oeste on schedule and likely to expand from 2 years to 6. Plenty of other projects to add value too. New CEO has made an excellent job of what was a difficult situation.

Most other small caps have been doing this on a regular basis for years. It's just that PGD has been in the stone age on the investor relations front. Interesting to hear what van Tienhoven has to say. Content will be key. Hopefully there will be no blagging.lol

A low cost way of doing some PR and hopefully getting attention of the market.

Hats off to Chris van Tienhoven if it was his idea.

Kin ell. A website presentation to accompany the interims. Sounds promising.

In the past there was no need to bother as nothing to report except more losses and failed targets. Normally even the full year results were buried as quickly as possible.

Here's hoping they have something decent to say in their webcast. Confirmation of the mine being in production would be useful.
