LOL harrogate

I've been in these for such a long time now that I've practically written them off several times in my head so I want to get to 40p before I bail.

I reckon either mgmt will come good and make a lot of money for themselves (and me) or else it will be bankrupt. - very little in between.

As I said, as I've practically w/o then I'm holding out for (my fictional) 40p!

Cheers

I also agree. Although the actual announcement was quite dull, it is still reassuring to not have any negative news and this might (I hope) be onward and upwards from here.

HOwever, I don't think we are in for a quick turnaround.

I'd settle for this getting back to c40p and take it from there.

Cheers

Agreed. Outlook was encouraging. Financial position looks adequate, providing we get stable / improved results. Not much mention of the recent acquisitions which tends to indicate to me that they have caused much of their own woes! I would be glad to get out of this, to be honest. Looks like this could do better over the next year or so though, so maybe now is not the best time to sell. I agree it would be nice to see directors put some money down. A takeover bid cannot be ruled out I suppose given the value here + the medium term under-performance.

What tripe... just a regurgitation of the results...does someone get paid for that stuff!! Given they are pretty much maxed out on the facility, £2.7m cash is the least they need I would have thought given the trade receivable and trade payable numbers...Still i do agree having read the results in detail again that there were a lot of confident noises from management and I do know that a competitor has had a grerat last 3 months in terms of contract wins. Based on previous behaviour if they are really confident we should see some director buying ... that would make me think we could have a better next 18 months for sure

OpSec Security: Management Confident

The supplier of anti-counterfeiting technologies and services recently announced interim results for the six months ended 30th September 2009. Plenty of cash on the balance sheet to reassure!

Group revenue was down by 14% due to general economic conditions and prior year loss of significant tax stamp contract. Adjusted Operating Profit was reduced to £645,000 from £1,158,000 as the impact of lower revenue was partially offset by significant cost saving programmes. The result after taxation was a loss of £358,000 (2008: profit of £217,000). Cash on the balance sheet as at 30th September 2009 amounted to £2,716,000 (2008: £2,771,000) so plenty to reassure.

OpSec Security Group provides anti-counterfeiting technologies, services and software to over 200 companies across industry sectors and over 50 governments worldwide. The Group operates manufacturing facilities and laboratories in the USA and the UK, and has sales operations in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. The group's brand protection team continues to win new customers and currently consumer spending appears stable. ID Solution's traditional bias is towards a stronger second half and is expected to be reinforced by the conversion of some of its present sales pipeline, whilst bank note and high security is expected to benefit from higher sales to Eastern Europe and a number of new business wins. The overall operational performance going forward should also be further significantly enhanced by the benefits arising from the restructuring of US operations and increased volumes of production within our UK facilities.

It is difficult for the company to predict major new contracts but known volumes of potential new business and the benefits that are arising from the restructuring of US facilities lead management to currently be confident that they will see significant improvements in operations.

I think it was pretty much as expected ... wouldn't have surpried me to see the H1 loss bigger ... I think we can epxect them to make a profit for the whole year .. would be nice to see a broker note but we don't seem to get any these days.... Silent on debt which might be positive. I think the outlook was positive enough but I do not expect any great movement in share price now ... it is going to be a long haul unfortunatley.

Hmmm....what do we make of the results: revenue still falling....buy at least cash seems to be OK and US margins are signifncantly up (but on reduced costs/lowers revenue)?

Hi

I have 200,000 colected since 2005 ... Not sure I am that strong an advocate ... I would rather not have 200,000 !!! The interims I think should tell us if they have steadied the ship... They have cut costs and if they can get revenue going up then I can see some light at the end of the tunnel... I still believe that M&A in this sector will start again once things stabilise.

Harrogate - you seem to be a strong advocate here - if you don't mind me asking how many shares do you have in this company ?

Got to say that I think there is upside here but agree with Harrogate that the outlook statement will be key to any major movement.

The major positives are that the Opsec ship has been steadied and banking sorted out so shouldn;t be any funding issues in the statement so it comes down to trading outlook.

I think that anything even vaguely promising will see the price rise and a neutral outlook may even see the price go back to the 25p level. If the outlook is negative (which I'd be surprised about) then we will probalby be back at the 10p-12p level.

So, in summary, downside limited but upside looks promising. I'm going to have a few more with some recently freed up cash.

Cheers

Note sure... I suspect that they should have a good year from the JV they have which protects microsoft products with the Windows 7 launch and they have certainly cut costs ... if they have managed to maintain revenues and have starting to pick up some business and cash is ok then I think they are cheap but lots of ifs there!! I also think that they have signalled that H1 results to be announced in early Dec will not be pretty so it will all be down to the outlook statement

You are missing the trades on PLUS ... put it in your monitor as OSG.GB They are mainly going through there at the mo... Had to pay well over spread if you have wanted any for a while now ... My gut feel is that it was way too cheap at 10p and the banking stuff is less of an issue and it is back where it should be given general increase in small caps ... Maybe some contract news which was hinted at in the AGM statement

Depends how much stock the MM's ar e holding (if any), all the MM's will do is make a turn so they may have had a buy oreder at up to 25p and managed to find the stock at say 24p so made their own turn on it.

Cynically, I suspect that it was just the MM's making what they could out of the buyer!!!
