31/8/2008 18:51 | Yes, I think there is some value in this company. A takeover would be the best way of shareholders getting some sort of short term reward. | topvest
27/8/2008 07:26 | There has been a lot of PE interest in the market over the last 12 months and the guys who bought ABNH are big enough to do more - there needs to be a coming together of some of the smaller players to form a global leader - I wouldn't have thought that OPSEC shareholders would hold out for too high a price given the history - Might just be wishful thinking on my part of course | harrogate
26/8/2008 21:25 | Thanks harrogate Who do you think the likely bidders are? | arthur_lame_stocks
26/8/2008 21:16 | See my post 344 for details of the ABNH deal which is still the nearest to what OPSEC do - It was at 4x sales and more - The other deals are private deals so I cannot give details but trust me they are at over 3 x sales There is also a French quoted hologram company ( Hologram Industries - ticker PHOL) that is about half the size of Opsec and twice the market cap - I think it will come and may be the only way we get some value now - | harrogate
26/8/2008 19:19 | harrogate Have you got any details of the deals that have taken place recently? Just names will do. Cheers | arthur_lame_stocks
26/8/2008 15:11 | I thought the trading update was pretty shoddy to be honest - no indication as to whether the slow down in orders and the growth in the new acquisition etc offset each other so that market expectations remain ok. I still think they will be taken over - there have been 3 deals in their marketplace at least in the last 8 months that make the current market cap too low but maybe not the time to get great value. | harrogate
26/8/2008 14:54 | Four Buys, totalling 35,000 shares, have pushed the share price up 9% in the past hour on no further news since last Wednesdays brief trading update ! | masurenguy
19/8/2008 08:52 | I think there will be - Have a look at the new website - it is a great improvement.Very interesting to see how H1 is going and of course the $ strength will be good news as they translate the US elements of the business into £ | harrogate
19/8/2008 08:35 | AGM tomorrow - wonder whether there will also be a TU ! | masurenguy
24/7/2008 13:02 | The only buyer of this stock is the company's LTIP. | arthur_lame_stocks
24/7/2008 12:58 | There seems to be a bit of buying going on....someone paid 49p the other day to get 15,000 - Maybe just wisful thinking on my part !! | harrogate
05/6/2008 20:08 | These do look very cheap after my first look at the results. My only big worry is that the board get into a lot of debt making acquisitions. One of the attractions for me is the strong balance sheet. | arthur_lame_stocks
05/6/2008 16:20 | I think I agree with you Harrogate that it looks cheap on potential and next years earnings. Directors must be looking at ways to get shareholders value and that might well be a sale (MBO or trade who knows). Think I will have a few more at this price. Downside seems limited. Cheers SH | seahorseleisure
04/6/2008 11:34 | Not too surprised by the reaction - no dividend etc Think that the way they did one year of dividends and then stopped them because they see good things to spend th emoney on looks a bit amateurish. I will be disappointed if we don't see some directors buying now we are out of the close period | harrogate
04/6/2008 09:20 | I agree they have had a year of consolidation( in fact sales declined on a like for like basis ) and have been spending some money on equipment & of course some acquisitions. If they really do resume organic growth + the impact of acquisitions I can see them getting to 7.5p EPS which is cheap -I would say 75p is reasonable but they do now need to deliver this year The reason for lack of dividend is menioned in the commentary by the way I have bought a lot of these now and am just in profit on average so am going to see how they do this year. I still belive that there will be people talking to them about being bought in the market they operate in. | harrogate
04/6/2008 09:05 | All quiet here - results today. Nothing to set the world on fire, but still looks quite cheap given the sector they are in. Disappointing that no dividend this year and not even mentioned in the commentary. | topvest
28/5/2008 14:21 | can anyone else see post 401? the site is telling me that there are 401 posts but I can only see up to 400 | seahorseleisure
17/5/2008 17:55 | Looks like these are starting to pick up and reverse the recent down-trend. | topvest
16/5/2008 18:24 | I would point out though Felix that prior to this deal OSG was largely ungeared with a decent tangible asset base so it's these that are likely to have been put up as security. On the plus side although the price looks high I not that the basic is only 4m Euros, the remaining 6m Euros is dependent on growth in EBITDA. This would have to grow by 1m Euros this year for it all to be payable. If the company is growing that strongly then the price is a bargain. I wouldn't get too excited about it being earnings enhancing mind you. Presumably since it's an all cash deal they will only need profit to more than cover the cost of financing the deal for it to be earnings enhancing. Just a couple more thought on it. | arthur_lame_stocks
16/5/2008 09:41 | I see your point - The whole brand protection market is wash with corporate activity at the moment and OPSEC are well positioned to be part of the activity - I hope as a target | harrogate
16/5/2008 09:39 | in the past yes - but the banks are so cautious now they have gone the other way. The banks are reneging on lending deals left right and centre particularly on property - even after agreeing loans and purchaser has exchanged contracts. Its no wonder property and lending in general is stuffed. Peeps are delighted just to get money to do a deal - they don;t even ask what price they have to pay for the money | felix99
16/5/2008 07:24 | Hi Welcome - Given that banks have just shown themselves to be totally useless at making good lending decisions that could be a really daft reason for investing in OSG - Having said that I think there is a fair bit of upside from here !! | harrogate
15/5/2008 22:12 | I bought in a few today - working on basis RBS wouldn;t be lending plenty of dosh to a company with little in the way of assets to secure against without a damn good story. OSG must have done a good sales job on them | felix99 |
