I thought that I had reported, but obviously not. I am up +0.099% on the day today (FTSE100 +0.206%).

Best rises: BLT +1.6% then RIO and VOD, both +1.4%.

Worst falls: TW. -2.5%, TSCO -2.0 and AZN -1.7%.

AZN obviously fell foul of Trump. TW. had a good trading update, so fell, of course.

Pestilence tomorrow, it seems.

Despite the FTSE's continued rise its been a poor few days for me as I'm heavily weighted towards insurers, DLG, LRE and ESUR the main culprits.

Gale force winds last night, we live close to the Forth Road Bridge which has been closed all day after a lorry got blown over. Apparently, the driver ignored the warning signs.

That Saharan snow was the first for 37 years.

The forecast says more snow is possible further south, in the Haggar Mountain range, besides a heavy fall on the Atlas mountains.

FTSE100 down 20% in $s since the start of 2014. (It will catch up if commodoties keep recovering.)

Aleman - unfortunately I've got to buy some dollars in the next couple of weeks.

They just keep coming. Bon-Ton, Signet and Supervalu issued bad numbers in the US today.

+0.3%. I've regained my 2.0% tax payment and into positive territory for the year.

Plot $ v £ and you find the FTSE100 is down since the start of last year in $s. It's just the £ tanking rather than FTSE shares gaining value.

Had me ears lowered (hair cut) today, just in time for the chilly spell!

No Offence tonight, but we probably won't bother as we really struggled with it last week, not helped by the fact you couldn't understand what they were trying to say to each other! Might settle into Midsomer Murders instead! Mind you, The Sheriffs are Coming was quite good too.

I was thinking it SHOULD be Lidl's best ever Christmas trading period here or they would be going backwards! This is definitely our best ever January in 2017!

The SIPP only managed +0.11% with DX., DC. & BMS/BRCI to thank but at least it was a gain! The pot on the other hand lost -0.28% with SGC, AMS & LGEN all having a little wobble.

My SIPP finished up 0.11%.

The FTSE has closed higher for a record 12th consecutive finish.

I'm now short on the FTSE - we are already +2.07% YTD.

Some sun and @8°C.

BRCI now near the top of my overall gainers in terms of value, only a smidgen behind NG. & GSK. I just looked back to see I bought my first batch in Jan 15 @ 88.74p and kept adding throughout that year with the last batch bought in Dec 15 @ 54.5p so it's been a good one for me - thanks again Aleman!

MrP - a new Aldl opened in Crayford just before Christmas - also on a busy one way traffic island and opposite the first 100,000 sq ft + Sainsburys in the country!

Planning - I think not.

Skinny, Lidl are trying to get permission to build a new store near us, right on a roundabout that is already gridlocked for a good part of the day. It's a ludicrous idea but based on past experience the planners will allow it, despite much local objection.

MrP - the first heavy snowfall was in December 1981.

ICL used to run courses at a large estate - Beaumont near Datchet.

We were on a weeks course and staying at a hotel Near Heathrow and bused in daily.

The snow came down on the Monday night and we were essentially Hotel bound until the course was finally abandoned on the Friday.

The record of the moment in the hotel bar - we spent quite a bit of time there - was Human League - 'don't you want me' - the 1981 Christmas No1.

Skinny, I would definitely have put Paddington near the top!

I remember driving my company Cortina MkIV through Oxfordshire during that cold snap in 1982, the aerial was still about 1" thick with ice when I got to Didcot, and I remember the road into Wantage was like a bob sleigh run!

I believe yesterday was the 11th consecutive 'higher' finish for the FTSE - I'm not sure if that's a record - yet!

On edit :- the last time was 27th July 2009.

Do look in more often. We don't agree on everything but try discuss things sensibly and keep grounded with menial anecdotes of the day to day activities.

Very warm here last night. I've got 11.0C recorded as the high through the night. It could be correct at is was 9C and cooling at dawn and is 7.3C now. It's mostly sunny but I fancy we'll catch an odd shower as clouds are flying through rapidly.
