25/1/2017 08:04 | So who looked at TAP when I mentioned them a couple of weeks ago? | aleman
25/1/2017 07:47 | WHSMiths report LfL down 3% on the high street. Restaurant group reported Q4 LfL deteriorated from -3.9% for the year to -5.9% in Q4. | aleman
24/1/2017 18:56 | I'm also well down today, don't hold BT.A, but, guess their profit warning hit TALK, also, not a good day for CLLN. wllm | wllmherk
24/1/2017 17:51 | I'm down -0.470% on the day today (FTSE100 -+0.012%). Worst falls: BT.A -20.8%, WMH -5.7% and CLLN -2.9%. Best rises: S32 +6.8%, RIO +4.0% and PSON +3.2%. BT.A hit me fairly hard, but the miners and PSON's rebound have all helped. Up to about +4°C this afternoon. Sky still clear. London tomorrow after the dentist, so might be a little late looking in. DF | deanforester
24/1/2017 17:35 | A bad day for me in comparison -0.55%. [FTSE250 -0.08%] Worst value fallers : BT.A -20.8%, IHC -3.3%, GVC -2.2%, IRV -3%, RTC -6.6%. Highest value risers : BLT +3%, HICL +1.9%, BRWM +2.4%. Following yesterdays/todays news, sold out of ESNT in profit just, [Tempus in Times called it as 'avoid'] Reduced PHTM until dust settles. Probably recklessly added some BMS & BT.A. MCS trading update tomorrow, no doubt more fun. | blueliner
24/1/2017 17:14 | All looked OK before I went down the marina for lunch on board (which was beautiful in the warm sunshine) then a drive down to Poole with mixture of sunny patches and thick fog! SIPP -0.07% DC., CTO & CLLN and the pot -0.46% AMD, DC. & RR. so much for good results from DC., the market has gone mad! Second part of Silent Witness this evening. | mrphil
24/1/2017 16:59 | +0.1% for me. Sun came out of the fog after lunch so decided to take No.3 for a walk to get some fresh air whereupon it promptly clouded over. That's 4 hours sun in 10 days. Not good enough! My tomatoes are wilting again. It did feel reasonably pleasant outside, though. +4.2C. | aleman
24/1/2017 16:53 | My SIPP finished down 0.03%. VZ making a bit of a hole for me. A lovely day - almost feeling Spring like early afternoon @9°C. | skinny
24/1/2017 13:59 | Verizon just missed Q4 forecasts in the US. Like BT, it probably reflects wider economic slowdown. | aleman
24/1/2017 12:32 | I've posted previously how collateralised auto loans are seeing higher default rates. Now, it's packaged commercial mortgages. So the same question applies: Who owns these things? The delinquency rate for commercial mortgages that have been packaged into bonds is forecast to climb by as much as 2.4 percentage points to 5.75 percent in 2017, reversing several years of declines, as property owners struggle with maturing loans, according to Fitch Ratings. That sets the stage for bondholder losses. S&P analysts are predicting that about 13 percent of real estate loans coming due will ultimately default, up from 8 percent over the past two years, according to Dennis Sim, a researcher at the firm. That’s their base case, but the default rate could be higher, he said. | aleman
24/1/2017 10:17 | -3°C this morning with patchy mist/fog and a clear sky above it. BT.A has put the cat among the pigeons. Even so the market is up on the Supreme Court decision. Perhaps now we can get on with Brexit. DF | deanforester
24/1/2017 09:33 | Only just seen the BT news. Commiserations to anyone holding. The deterioration in its business and public sector outlook makes one wonder about the wider economy, especially since UK Mail reported a deteriorating outlook for letters recently. The evidence of a slowdown seems to be mounting. Even then, does a slowdown automatically lead to recession? | aleman
24/1/2017 09:32 | GBP Public Sector Net Borrowing 6.4B 6.7B 12.2B | skinny
24/1/2017 09:21 | But is it gloomy, MrP? I sound very gloomy but I'm open to the possibility I could be wrong. What do you think is driving your recent good order intake. Are you doing better/being more efficient/have better products/better service. Is your market stong for your competitors, as well? Is the weak £ helping? Do you have better salespeople? | aleman
24/1/2017 09:05 | Morning, the European high has finally arrived, clear with heavy frost -2C. BT.A -18%, out of nowhere, heavy folio faller, my certificated holding dates back to 2008, well in profit. is this a buy again? Certainly not my week so far. | blueliner
24/1/2017 09:02 | Good Morning. Terrible MrP. Sorry for any BT holders. | skinny
24/1/2017 08:01 | Amongst all the gloom, pleased to say our order book has already exceeded the full month of January 16 by 20% with another week to go. Just given out the staff letters confirming their bonus for the final quarter of last year. Good start for RIO this morning, pity I don't hold! | mrphil
24/1/2017 07:54 | Aleman, yes DC. figures look OK so I guess we're in for a fall today! | mrphil
24/1/2017 07:51 | Morning All. This doesn't get any better | mrphil
24/1/2017 07:40 | Dixons, Crest Nickolson, and Laird numbers all look fairly good. Marstons look to have lost a little bit of momentum but claim a tough comparison period. The main names look okay at first glance, today. Frost and fog, this morning. -1.9C. | aleman
23/1/2017 17:58 | I'm down -0.381% on the day today (FTSE100 -0.657%). Worst falls: S32 -3.6%, BP. -2.2% and TSCO -1.7%. Best rises: BLND +1.1%, ADM +1.0% and MARS +0.9%. Market jittery. Trump and Brexit. Got my haircut today, possibly not a good idea with the temperature below zero all day and the fog never lifted. We grabbed a bite to eat at Wetherspoons before we came home, a traditional breakfast as it was before noon. Also two cups of coffee, thanks to their free refills before 2pm policy. The fog is getting thicker now, visibility between 25-50 yards, temperature falling back from the -1°C maximum. The sun was just about visible as we came home, but only just so the fog layer was pretty thick. DF | deanforester
23/1/2017 17:27 | Well done on LPA, freddie. -0.1% for me. The 15% rise at Bango helped. It's a shame I did not buy more back, or do it at 69p when I first thought about it. Still, they're shooting up of late - but will they stay up this time? It clouded over gradually after a sunny start. 2.1C high just beating yesterday's 1.8C but today's felt much nicer with a bit of sun. It's funny how you get used to the cold after a while. It's supposed to warm up at the weekend and hit double figures next week. I'll be aiming for my first lunch outside if we get some midday sun. | aleman
23/1/2017 17:04 | -0.23% for the Folio, [FTSE250 -0.25%] Worst value fallers : BMS -16.4%, PHTM -9.2%.[in a league of their own] Highest value risers : BGO +13.1%, IGR +3.6%. PHNX +2.1%, CSN +1.9%. Lingering fog all day, temp hovering between 0C & 3C. | blueliner
23/1/2017 16:55 | Thanks freddie, they do seem to be doing very well! Sad news about Gordon Kaye. Pretty dire day for my lot SIPP -0.85% BMS, BP. & BRCI and a similar -0.82% for the pot LLOY, FDI & SGC with those listed being dreadful and the rest just awful! Silent Witness this evening, still haven't managed to catch up with Halcyon. | mrphil |
