Actually, it is not quite as simple as that.

If you owe me £50 and I die, in practise you may be able to forget the debt.

If you owe a bank £50,000 and the bank goes bust, again in practise the debt may be sold on but you may not get chased.

If the banking system goes up the spout, then debts will not be chased.

And then, when furlough ends, they still probably have a month worth of holiday entitlement.

Max.
The question is not one of safty, it is far more one of epidemiology.
People have got to discipline themselves into being sensible. It is not what you do but how you do it. 2 metres.

Being furloughed is very stressful. Will need a holiday to allow a transition back to the workplace (if it's safe)

Below is a reader comment left on media with the Furlough scheme update from yesterday...maybe the employers won't need to make redundancies...the employee will do it for them!...

My niece is having lovely time on furlough. Get up and have a leisurely breakfast, then off on a nice bike ride in the country. Then, back in time for lunch in the garden under the parasol followed by a snooze, then open the gin bottle about 4pm for tiffin. Evening spent watching boxsets til late as no work the next day. Next day, repeat. She doesn't want this to end as getting back to work gives her the mental health problem of workshyness. All paid for by us!

I think the lock down is in the process of breaking down.
The only problem with this is that I think over the course of the next week more test results will come in +ve. This means that R will have moved above 1.

The problem is the xxxxxxxx weather. We need six weeks continuous and heavy rain.

You could then unlock the economy and keep R below 1 and drive down the number of cases to very low levels.

Funny old world, best weather ever, just at the wrong time.

Coronavirus: 99% confident that COVID-19 vaccine will work, says Chinese firm

Chinese scientists working on a COVID-19 vaccine have told Sky News they are "99%" sure it will be effective.

Sinovac, a Beijing-based biotech company, currently has its coronavirus vaccine in stage 2 trials, with more than 1,000 volunteers participating. Sky News is the first British broadcaster to visit its labs.

The company also said it is in preliminary talks to hold stage 3 trials - the final part of the trials process - in the UK.

Sky News asked Luo Baishan, a researcher at Sinovac, whether he thought the vaccine would be successful.

"Yes, yes. It must be successful… 99% [sure]," he replied.

Last month Sinovac published results in the academic journal Science which showed the vaccine, called CoronaVac, protects monkeys from infection by the coronavirus.

The biggest problem the company faces is the low number of COVID-19 cases in China, which makes testing the vaccine in an epidemic situation difficult. As a result, the company is looking further afield for stage 3 trials.

Helen Yang, senior director of investor relations, told Sky News: "We are speaking to several European countries and I think did discuss with the UK as well.

"Currently it's a very preliminary stage for the discussion."

The company is pressing ahead with production, though, even as it continues research.

In the company's headquarters in northwest Beijing, orange and white packets are already ready to go.

The aim of parallel tracks is that mass production of the vaccine can begin straight away, if the trials are successful and the vaccine gets regulatory approval.

It is currently building a commercial plant in another part of Beijing with the objective of delivering 100 million doses.

That number, large as it is, means limiting who gets the vaccine.

Let me guess, Derby has the greatest disposable income of any city outside of London!

And what do they spend it on I wonder?

They certainly don't spend it on books and cultural travel!

ROFLMAO!
