Boonkoh, N+1 Singer's 48p target was simply based on a P/E of 16 for this year's 3p EPS forecast, "in-line with international peers".

Taking next year's 3.6p EPS would give a 58p target. And if all goes well the final 2016 figures and outlook may even lead to upgrades on those forecasts.

Singer's forecast is behind Edison's and Canaccord's of 3.1p-3.11p EPS for 2017.

Wafer Tech never really gets a word so here is a bit about the company:

Wafer Technology is housed in a 50,000 sq.ft. building in Milton Keynes, about 50 miles north west of London, UK. Crystal growth facilities include high and low pressure Czochralski pullers, horizontal synthesis furnaces (for polycrystalline material production) and Vertical Gradient Freeze furnaces. Wafering equipment includes an extensive installation of Meyer & Berger saws, precision edge rounders and laser marking equipment. Single side and simultaneous double side polishing is performed in class 10,000, class 1,000 or better cleanroom areas with final inspection and polished wafer packaging in a class 100 area.

so how big is 50,000 square feet?

Probably as credible as any other method.

Does anyone have a copy of the N+1 singer broker report from Dec 2016 where the price target was 48p?I'm interested to know the methodology they used to come up with that number. Was it based on Forward PE projections or market comparables?

Following on from last night conversation regarding 3D sensing/imaging, check this article out re Lumentum. It gives a very concise explanation regarding the growth potential for this tech. £300m for a cutting edge tech co which is at the heart of so many devices and products, and ahead of the curve on so much future tech too, is emabrrasingly low.

Any such co in the US would be rated at multiple $billions - surely.

Remember the SENTIMENT and MOMENTUM are seemingly behind us and with a PE still at a massive discount to our competitors so are the fundamentals :-)

If I remember properly Drew Nelson's comment at the last AGM ( IQE CEO) sub 10nm demands compound semiconductors :-)
He and the NED Simon Gibson also confirmed in response to a question from me that IQE ARE working/collaborating/researching with the very top tier1 companies.

Following up on this will definitely be a focus for my questions at this years AGM

Hey Sweenoid, If you think that's nice, Mr Trump today signed off on a deal today with Intel to get their 7nm process up and running in a new factory! At 7nm, microprocessors will require compound semiconductors not just silicon! As you already know IQE and Intel collaborated on a few papers in 2011 and recently IQE have made no secret of their work with Intel. These joint papers from 2011 could do with a reread.

It's all coming together, great link Tomy. VR AR 3D and proximity sensing for automotive, massive markets
I listened to an interminably boring webcast featuring Macom earlier regarding the 100G roll-out and the recurring message was demand exceeds supply and will do for the next 2-3 years..........which is nice as we supply the OEM's - and IQE has the capacity to supply the OEM's once they are able to ramp up.

Hard not to get too excited about possibilities here
