IEH said sometime ago that they were involved with a large Japanese car manufacturer who produces a million cars a year to develop an HFC for a new generation of cars.

That could be anyone of at least five large corporates: Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi, Nissan etc. Add to that list one major German car manufacturer as well...so there really are some real possibilities of major production orders unless the car makers decide to produce their own versions of IEH HFC's and fuel extenders under license.

To make serious money IEH need to be involved with Toyota in this - they're the largest (1st or 2nd) car manufacturer in the world at the moment and should have the know how to make this big. If IEH aren't involved with a Toyota or VWAG then they will always be playing in the little league.

all imho

ETA: The share price definitely seems to be rising - maybe some more positive 'news' hidden in the depths of the Annual Report?

The connection with Orlando, Florida might be the fact that Praxair are located there. The company produces a wide range of gasses including compressed hydrogen.

PRAXAIR STARTS UP NEW HYDROGEN PLANT IN PERU
October 04, 2016

DANBURY, Conn., October 4, 2016 – Praxair, Inc. (NYSE: PX), a leading global industrial gas company, announced today that it has started up a hydrogen plant for Repsol, one of the world’s largest producers of hydrocarbon fuels and petrochemicals.

This company mass produces hydrogen and delivers it in cartridges, trucks or even a pipeline. No wonder IEH will locate a cartridge designer nearby.

Toyota begins showing off the new Prius Prime

Automaker has a new, very promising vehicle

Toyota is expressing a great deal of enthusiasm for its new Prius Prime, which is an updated version of its popular Prius vehicle. The automaker has begun to show very strong support for clean technology and how this technology can be used in transportation.

For many years, Toyota’s Prius, as well as its other vehicles, have served as indicators for future products from the company. The Prius Prime may follow this trend, especially when it comes to building larger vehicles making use of renewable energy.

Toyota continues to show favor for hydrogen fuel cells

Apart from the Prius Prime, Toyota is showing significant attention to hydrogen fuel cell technology. These energy systems are being used in Toyota’s new Mirai, which was launched in December of 2015.

For Toyota, hydrogen fuel cells show a great deal of promise because their favorable range of fueling time. Fuel cells can also produce large quantities of electrical power, which makes them very attractive for use in large vehicles.

The fuel cell cartridge design engineer is expected to work on Merrit Island near Orlando, Florida.

I did some digging on that and there may be some connection with a camping gas cartridge manufacturer but I cannot find much else info.

However the job vacancy points to a commitment by IEH to make hydrogen gas cartridges for consumer electronics, i.e. phones, drones, laptops and Industrial IoT applications. This signals a strong possibility of an impending order for small fuel cells = high production numbers imo.

What is at the facility/location in Florida?

I know that Loughborough has a 'semi automated' production line and SMILE has a similar operation in Japan, but not sure exactly what is at Florida...

Apparently IEH have a class leading product, but not class leading sales teams or marketing teams...

Although there seems support at this level for the share price and it seems to be slowly rising at the moment.. Annual Accounts will be out mid-Nov... Will need to see those to see how well it will fare over the next 6-9 months and possibly beyond.

German Government Announces programme for hydrogen and fuel cell technology 2016-2026

Added by FuelCellsWorks, October 05, 2016

NOW--The federal government has today decided on the government programme for hydrogen and fuel cell technology 2016 to 2026. The inter-ministerial programme on the one hand safeguards continuity for research and development, and on the other addresses the support required for market activation of the first products.

Dr. Klaus Bonhoff, Managing Director (Chair) of NOW: “The government programme builds on the successes of the first phase of the NIP (2007-16). In the NIP the degree of technological maturity of, for example, fuel cell vehicles or fuel cell heating devices significantly evolved both technically and economically and a modern branch of industry with around 500 companies and organisations was established.

The areas of activity defined in the government programme for the continuation of the NIP provide the framework for the market ramp up that has already begun.”

The implementation of the NIP is carried out through the relevant actions of the participating federal ministries. In two funding guidelines the BMVI is spending initially 250 million euro by 2019 to support hydrogen and fuel cell technology: the funding guideline for “Measures for research, development and innovation” published on 29.9.2016 as well as the funding guidelines for “Measures for market activation” anticipated by the end of 2016.

"Currently very limited availability of suitable sites for HRS in London."

Of interest, there are only 8 refuelling stations in the UK.

from here : hxxp://www.carbuyer.co.uk/tips-and-advice/144957/hydrogen-cars-all-you-need-to-know

Where can I buy hydrogen?

As mentioned above, there are only eight hydrogen filling stations open to the public right now. Most of are in the south of the UK, with three in the London area (at Hendon, Teddington and Heathrow airport), another at Honda’s factory in Swindon, Wiltshire, and a fourth in Port Talbot in south Wales. Both Coventry University and Birmingham University have stations, too, while there’s also one in Nottingham. Further north, there’s a public hydrogen station in Rotherham as well.
Many more are planned, but there are still challenges in getting the required investment for what is, at the moment, a very limited market. However, 11 more will be opened this year, four of which will be in and around the London area.
It is a bit of a chicken-and-egg situation, however, as the hydrogen car market is unlikely to take off until there are sufficient filling stations, while there’s unlikely to be a huge rise in the number of filling stations until the hydrogen car market has taken off!

How much does hydrogen cost?

Obviously, individual retailers can determine prices, but you can expect to pay between £10-15 per kilogramme for hydrogen. You don’t necessarily buy hydrogen in the same way as petrol or diesel, but bear with us, everything will become clear. Taking the Toyota Mirai as an example, its tank can hold 5kg of hydrogen, so it’ll cost around £50-75 to fill up. According to Toyota, this equates to around 60mpg fuel economy, but prices are likely to drop as competition for business increases and mass production of hydrogen for this purpose becomes more commonplace.

I don't think there are many free shares, hence why the price rose so rapidly a few weeks ago. Most of the Sells will be matched with Buys, but there doesn't seem like that much appetite to sell below the current price - so we seem to have a bit of support at 12p. I think this reflects the improved cash burn and an indication of clear funds for 12-15 months of operations (if there aren't any serious sales activities in that period - which the firm seemed confident of a achieving). It's a waiting game now.

The company seem well placed but there's just that final piece of the jigsaw puzzle which are sales or income. Of course improvement in that area should see the outlook for the company improve and they can then extend the 'current end date' when the money runs out and hopefully get improved sales and so and so on.. simple!

Just an observation, but yesterdays trading showed the share price rising on nothing but sells .... which seems to be what happened before this went up 106% a couple of weeks ago or so. Whereas then it seemed MMs couldn't get shares at 8p it now seems they have to raise the share price to get shares .... if someone wants into IEH and sellers at current SPs have more or less been exhausted, maybe we'll see another spike on Thursday or Friday though now IEH may be on a few "traders'" radars, there may be a lot of volume as traders take their 10% .... we'll see ... this certainly doesn't show any signs of heading down to 8p again though I suppose a "tree shake" is not out of the question ......

hot off the press ...

from

Electric cars stole the limelight at the 2016 Paris motor show, where manufacturers such as Mercedes, Volkswagen and General Motors made battery power the centre of their presentations.

Hyundai had its full range of Ioniq hybrid, plug-in-hybrid and electric hatchbacks on stage, but the brand's hydrogen chief maintains there is plenty of life still in fuel cell technology.

Frank Meijer, head of fuel cell vehicles for Hyundai in Europe, says the brand's follow-up to the ix35 Fuel Cell is not far away, and that it will take a different approach to the simply-converted SUV that served as Hyundai's first hydrogen-powered car.

"Two years ago when we were asked to make some plans we had two options," he says.

"We looked at a Tucson version with fuel cell, but we thought that's maybe not the best. In 2018 we will get our new vehicle."

Meijer says the new car "has SUV heritage", and that it will have links to an existing model. The full-sized Santa Fe is unlikely to get a run with the emerging technology, as it is too large for the majority of European buyers. Expect the brand's next fuel cell model to offer 10 per cent increases in range, efficiency and top speed. The latter has proven particularly contentious in Germany, as the existing model is limited to around 160km/h, making it a slow proposition on unrestricted autobahns.

ACT government orders hydrogen-powered Hyundais

Meijer says the brand's second-gen fuel cell machine "should be not much bigger" than the current ix35-based machine, and that it will reinforce the brand's range of Ioniq electric cars, rather than competing with them.

"We see it as complimentary," he says.

"At the end of the day an electric motor is in the Fuel Cell power train. Our parts are being jointly developed.

"You have to differentiate - small cars for electric and bigger cars for fuel cell. For cities like Paris or London or Oslo, an Ioniq with 280 range is already by far sufficient, and the Fuel Cell can go further."
