27/11/2012 15:21 | Sorry to hear the FD's leaving, pleased to see the Divi rise and dialogue with Ofwat. Stay long stay happy. | praipus

11/4/2012 10:52 | Clipped from the SVT site: The sub-menu: 'Water should be sold like oil' is interesting. Has DVW surplus water? Would it be economic to transfer it to another region? z | zeppo
07/2/2012 09:50 | FT's Merryn Somerset Webb on the subject of water | praipus
31/1/2012 09:29 | I tend to weigh value (to me) by looking at the Dividend yield and DVW now seems to be yielding 4.25% - the same as Severn Trent and more than Pennon (3.6%). I suppose I'd be inclined to sell if the yield dropped below 4% and so remain in board. These moves seems strange and the strength over past months has been impressive. There must be some talk of takeover somewhere, although I've seen nothing. | beardmore
30/1/2012 15:47 | Still rising on relatively small trades. It can also drop substantially on relatively small sales. It seems that any takeover deal would not necessarily be preceeded by major purchases. It could simply be the major shareholders agreeing to sell to an interested party. There is no indication of that at present. As one of the few independent water providers it could happen at any time. What would an appropriate price for this company? Anyone any idea? z | zeppo
07/12/2011 10:50 | Now ex-divi but fallen less than yesterdays rise so far. z | zeppo
06/12/2011 17:41 | Ludicrous rise on less than 1000 shares. What rise would there be on a bid? z | zeppo
22/11/2011 14:36 | Hi Zeppo, thanks for the reminder Just added the non-voting A's to the header | praipus
22/11/2011 12:55 | Interims tomorrow 23rd Nov. z | zeppo
25/10/2011 12:01 | I've added a link to Ofwat's website and their section on industry structure. | praipus
23/10/2011 20:22 | Yes, very much a dwindling number. 10 water and waste water, UU, Severn Trent and Pennon still listed. 11 water only companies with just Dee Valley left listed There were more more than this on privatisation, something like 30 | topvest
21/10/2011 22:05 | Dee Valley is now the only quoted "water only" company in the UK from the 22 that were privatised. | praipus
07/7/2011 14:28 | Thank you Beardmore. I need to look into having an ISA. 'Dee Valley Group PLC ORD 5P 1217.50 Bid 1215.00 Offer 1220.00' Does the current tight spread, ex-div, suggest that the mms are trying to tempt sellers out? z | zeppo
07/7/2011 10:45 | I think ISAs are very underrated - no divis in an ISA need be declared and, if you're a silly old sod and retired like me, the ISA income doesn't drop you into the income trap where your Tax Allowance is reduced £ for £ once the state decides that you're in receipt of too much money!! Hargreaves Lansdown doesn't charge for ISAs (I think). | beardmore
06/7/2011 23:11 | We all make decisions which can be good or not so good. Hopefully we make more good ones than bad ones. I sold my NWG at £4.12 (losing the divi.)which may turn out to be a bad move. As I am retired I like the income from DVW which will have RPI/inflation linked? rises until 2015. I put some of my NWG money into FCRM which has Full Year figures out in the next few days. No divi on FCRM as yet. If I do not get capital gain then I am the divvie. I have no ISA. Is there much benefit in starting an Investment ISA now? Does it not have annual management charges? z | zeppo
06/7/2011 11:01 | Yes, it was probably the wrong thing to do (it usually is with me!). Mine were in an ISA and the thinking was to take the recent gain tax free rather than wait for the divi which is taxed at 10% and watch it drop by an equivalent amount. To be honest, I was just bored to death with it and without a takeover (which was the reason I bought it originally), I can't see a strong argument for holding on fundamentals. Understating the eps by 30% didn't exactly fill me with confidence in the Management either! As I said, now that I've sold they'll probably get a bid at 1500. 8-) | jeffian
06/7/2011 09:44 | jeffian So far it has moved little today after coming down a bit yesterday. Price Price Change [%] Bid Offer Open High Low 1,215.00 -15.0 [-1.22] 1,210.00 1,220.00 1,230.00 1,230.00 1,215.00 Things may change in the next few days. If the NWG takeover goes through or fails to go through there will be movement. I am sticking with it. z | zeppo
05/7/2011 10:46 | 4,000 sold? Without the divi? Goes ex- divi tomorrow. Hope the fall back is not greater than the divi. z | zeppo
23/6/2011 12:05 | Have to admit I've taken the money and run here. On fundamentals, it's looking fairly fully-valued for a low/no growth company. Rightly or wrongly, I took the view that in the absence of anything else happening, it's likely to retrench by the amount of the imminent divi (40.3p) when it goes ex-div soon, so on to other things. Knowing my track record, this is probably a huge 'buy' signal for the rest of you and the bid which I anticipated when I bought 'em a couple of years ago will now come steaming in at 1500! But a profit's a profit, for a'that. Good luck to holders. | jeffian
19/6/2011 21:20 | It was a positive adjustment - only relates to deferred tax though, so doesn't really have a significant impact. | topvest |
