03/12/2008 11:13 | Scribbler101 Some of the land sounds far too wet for sheep. On wet land they are liable to get foot rot. Ducks or geese are win, win. Oink! Oink! Best solution - heavy drainage into artificial lakes. The land will then support cows or sheep and the lakes will support leisure industries and, of course, the geese z | zeppo

For the benefit of the Saesnegs, thats JS Bach: Sheep may safely graze Whilst the shepherd is watching. Where the wise and good rule Peace will also reign there And there will be peace throughout the world. But in the Ceiriog Valley these days they mainly rear dragons for the paté trade. Though there have been rumours that one well respected manufacturer has been using imported Chinese Dragon meat! Apparently the Chinese for dragon is "fen yi sun" | scribbler101
02/12/2008 14:47 | Scribbler101 Cows should be prohibited from any of the DVW catchment area or distibution area. We cannot let them tarnish the golden goose. Geese are good grazers. They are lighter than cattle, make good eating and are excellent for duvet stuffing etc. Humane Welsh Organic Goose Pate could be a lucrative diversification. Dee Valley Pate should definitely be on the menu Attending the JHD AGM 10th Dec. Spending three days in Liverpool 15th to 17th Dec. May attend DVW AGM 2009. Hope to meet you there or at The Boat sometime. z | zeppo
01/12/2008 01:29 | I think it should be disclosed in the interests of fair trading that DVW is incurring huge costs repairing the pipeline that supplies me because their pipe keeps getting broken by cows whose legs sink down in the muddy soil and crack their degraded old pipes. Why is the soil muddy? Because the pipeline keeps breaking and flooding the field. | scribbler101
29/10/2008 15:52 | Scribbler101 If the actor who did the voices for Wallace & Grommit, had played James Bond, they could have called the film 'Quantum of Salis'. Daniel Craig explained what 'Quantum of Solace' meant on BBC1 yesterday. Something about the moment that you realise a relationship is breaking up. I have a quantum of solace with the stock market right now. Hope the relationship looks better with water company results etc at the end of the month. z | zeppo
18/10/2008 13:14 | Scribbler101 Thank you for the links. I will have fun teaching my grandsons a little Chinese. The longest journey begins with........ The Frankie Laine song was originally: 'Make way, oh, make way for my Eastern Rose.' 中国 and you can 'Get Ringtone Download track.' Have a good weekend! z | zeppo
18/10/2008 00:21 | Well there you are - all four tones (click to hear) and 30+ meanings! Having thought about it, I think the first tone probably is the one to sing to "Hey Jude". The "Jude" is pronounced high and level, and although Chinese simply does not have extended sounds it is normal to make them for singing. But the original, although not designed for singing, is designed for a rhythm in speech "Bu-guan bai mao, hei mao, li-zhu lao-shu jiu shi hao mao." "No matter white cat, black cat catch mice it's a good cat" | scribbler101
17/10/2008 20:47 | Scribbler101 Thank you for the link. I was slightly disappointed to only learn the pronunciation of the one word. The correct pronunciation of 'mao' drops away too quickly for Hey Jude - which needs more sustain. The 'ao' drifts out whereas the 'ude' does need holding. Instead 'Buguan bai mao, hei mao, lizhu laoshu jiu' could possibly sung to Frankie Laine's pseudo-oriental hit of the late forties/early fifties: 'Rose, Rose I love you with an aching heart. What is your future, now we have to part? Standing on the jetty as the steamer moves away, Flower of Malaya, I cannot stay.' You can get a ringtone of this melody - so that you can really work on making the words fit. z | zeppo
17/10/2008 18:32 | It's first tone - "high and level" Just think of the noise a cat makes. | scribbler101
17/10/2008 18:01 | Scribbler101 You have a very impressive language portfolio. Are the 'maos' pronounced with the voice lifting and floating off the word? 'hei mao' can possibly sung to the tune of Hey Jude? z | zeppo
16/10/2008 18:25 | Just in case anyone does not have chinese characters enabled, here it is in han-yu pin-yin. "Buguan bai mao, hei mao, lizhu laoshu jiu shi hao mao." | scribbler101
16/10/2008 18:22 | Well, the offer is hardly changed, and the bid hugely dropped. What the MMs are saying is "I don't want to get left with a holding of these barely traded shares in a weak market". I should imagine if you actually want to trade there would be a better price so long as the market was stable at the time. And to keep up my performance; 不管 | scribbler101
16/10/2008 10:31 | The 'big spread' is currently £2.00. Ludicrous! z | zeppo
14/10/2008 10:13 | Scribbler101 From Latin on UU., you have given us an American greeting then a Lancastrian abbreviation. Lively postings lift the gloom. American ranches are sometime described as 'big spreads' but why the £1.50 spread showing on my Moneyextra portfolio (£7.5 bid to to £9.00 offer that is a big spread). Before the drop the spread was 50p. z | zeppo
14/10/2008 00:26 | Hi y'all - if you look at 't chart looks like it's just MMs marking down with the market. Only one actual transaction seems to have had no effect! Good time to buy if inclined. Bit of inside info. I am thinking of paying my water rates soon. | scribbler101
13/10/2008 16:42 | Had this manic drop with SSE, REH and RWE. SSE is recovering fast now so these drop if we are very lucky might just be fleeting buying opportunities....fam | praipus

13/10/2008 15:57 | What's up? Scibbler101, any ideas? | zeppo
05/10/2008 16:21 | Bought some a few weeks back. Dull, but reasonably safe. | topvest
03/10/2008 11:16 | Praipus I believe it is the same as on the ordinary shares. ____________________ 'Water firms in England and Wales are to have their pricing policies examined by Ofwat after revealing how much they aim to hike bills for five years from 2010. The watchdog Ofwat has revealed that bills would increase by 9% more than inflation between 2010-2015.' Is this not reasonable for divi seekers already into water shares? z | zeppo |
