Hmm - nice rise - 875p-900p, but why? Surely not purely the change of CEO. I'm sure Norman Holladay is a perfectly competent internal appt - but hardly a big hitter! So is therefore something else afoot...

Rounded up with 250 today.

250K shares have been transferred? by a bigger player at about the same time.

Well done!

Is there a date in January when the water companies and OFWAT finally agree after negotiation?

Interims 25th November 09

OFWAT determination can only affect divis going forward - not the current financial year.

Had the same problem buying UTL I placed a limit order at the mid price of £1.26 and the MM's moved every thing to £1.30-£1.33... MM's slim their holdings down when markets are weak understandably but now they are starting to recover I sense some are being caught out.

Welcome aboard Skyship.

Jeezz - rather sensitive - could only get 500 @ the offer price of 840p, then they call them 830p-860p! Will wait awhile for another 500....

I hold for income but I also believe that, as you say Zeppo, a takeover is a real possibility.

I am optimistic ahead of the OFWAT decision.

I believe that, at the very worst, this smaller water company could be snapped up by one of its three larger neighbours who could gain the water catchment, water storage and the relatively small customer base but possibly achieve cost savings using their own admin. etc.

I would prefer to see it continue, as it is, with modest divi growth each year.

I am a long term holder for income.

Interims due in c.4-5 weeks. Anyone any updated views on this one?

My three are DVW, NWG and UU. (In descending order after the UU. cashback.)
I did top up DVW and NWG during the last year - but not UU.

Perhaps UU. couldn't sustain the divi that they paid before the cashback and re-capitalisation last year but I feel short changed by them. For me the cashback came just as the market was about to go into its steepest decline. You had to be very wise to re-invest the cashback well.

'Should improve in the Final determinations.'

I hope so.

Being retired, I am only concerned with divis. I will wait and hope.

Yes, out today. Tough position taken by Ofwat. Dee Valley did better than some, but tough all the same. Should improve in the Final determinations.

"THE boss of Thames Water, Britain's biggest water company, wants to lead a radical reshaping of the industry by taking over a dozen smaller rivals.
................
South East Water, owned by Hastings Infrastructure, the Australian fund, is among the companies that Owens said was most interesting. Others including Dee Valley Water and Sutton and East Surrey Water are also thought to be vulnerable."

Go on, my son!

Yes, nice to see this jump back. Looks a well run company and they should be able to move the dividend forward over the next five years.
