schofip, as I said before, UK dividends are normally quoted and distributed net. It's the Irish tax residence that might complicate BEZ.

I can't see why a UK resident company would quote gross dividend. They don't pay tax on dividends, they merely issue a dividend credit. The company doesn't get taxed 10% of the dividend prior to distribution. Unless the shareholder pays tax at the higher rate, HMRC doesn't receive any tax from dividends, either from the company or shareholder.

In my opinion companies like JP Morgan put out forecasts to worry novice investors to sell so they have a lower entry point for their own funds. Don't fall for it.

Gross (of WHT) is 20p. Net is 18p.

So the gross divided must be 19.8p then. I alays thought the declared dividend was gross.

You are wrong. You will get 18p (6.2+11.8).
Last year I received 22p (16.1+5.9).
Divs are quoted net of tax.

schofip, thanks for taking the trouble of contacting your broker and explaining this to us. I suppose the UK apply 10% tax because corporation tax hasn't been paid on the profits in the UK?

It makes me think I might have been wrong for having a go at IG recently for deducting 10% off my CGL divi (Bermuda)!

Confirmed with AJBell this morning that there are 2 dividend schemes that a nominee brokercan sign up to. Either the domestic tax rate in the country the company is registered for tax or the UK tax regime.

In this particular case the domestic scheme would have deducted 20% witholding tax and the Uk tax is 10%. AJ Bell operate the UK tax scheme which means 10% is deducted at source on any BEZ dividend and this is not reclaimable. If anybody has any other information on this please feel free to comment. So the dividend to be paid into your ISA account will be 16.2p.

Oops, didn't realise there was no stamp duty on BEZ. My excuse is that it's well over a year since I bought my last lot.

As I understand it, if you are a resident for tax purposes in an EU state other than Ireland (e.g. UK) then you are entitled to exemption from Irish Dividend Withholding Tax (DWT).

Try taking up with your broker and see how far you get!

I think the problem with nominee accounts is how the broker can claim tax exemption for just the accounts that are entitled to it.

This one has dropped by more than the divi because it had to. It was (and still is just) way above the 50dma, as investors booked their place at the divi, and that meteoric rise was unsustainable.

Doesn't mean the uptrend is broken, just that the share price is taking a well earned breather and I can't see today, why the strong multi year uptrend should not continue very shortly..

Can you?
