12/9/2017 13:36 | Given the slump in price at HSS I wonder if they'd be a decent acquisition target for AHT? | wayneduncan
12/9/2017 13:15 | I suspect that there are a number of holders in the same situation as fenners and Bukko who to avoid CGT are limited in what profit they take. Profit taking is more likely to come from those who bought more recently. ian If I was going to short and I'm not.........yet, it would not be on the basis of either of the gaps filling but on the basis of a retrace or pullback. BTW I agree that the lower gap is confirmed as a breakaway | bracke
12/9/2017 12:10 | Thanks Ian - I listened to the webcast, very encouraging. Is is me or was that really Davos Seaworth ? | fenners66
12/9/2017 11:56 | Good morning bracke ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ How many of you holders sell now with the thought that when the share price retraces/pulls back you buy back? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Me neither! I'm facing too many years drawdown of the CGT free allowance for that. Might have to pay some tax to speed things up before someone changes the rules. :-) Good luck to all holders. | bukko
12/9/2017 11:27 | I already sold some this year - roll on next April | fenners66
12/9/2017 11:21 | Good morning bracke ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ How many of you holders sell now with the thought that when the share price retraces/pulls back you buy back? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Need you ask? As you know, I'm an investor not a trader, with the greatest respect,if I wanted to gamble I would buy a lottery ticket -:) However this mornings gap must be tempting if you are a trader, the gap around 1595 doesn't look quite so promising at present .. | ianwwwhite
12/9/2017 11:13 | James97 Thanks, good work! | ianwwwhite
12/9/2017 11:10 | The previous intraday high was 1764 on 02 March 2017. The previous closing high was 1751 on 01 March 2017. How many of you holders sell now with the thought that when the share price retraces/pulls back you buy back? | bracke
12/9/2017 11:02 | fenders/ian The headline eps growth is on constant currency basis, the 30% figure includes the effect of the dollar going up against the pound. | james97
12/9/2017 10:50 | fenners If any more encouragement was needed then the AHT webcast of this morning's analysts briefing by Geoff and Suzanne is extremely bullish, and well worth a listen.at: I also notice that Ashtead's results have received some very favourable coverage by the press at large this morning. . | ianwwwhite
12/9/2017 10:38 | That says I'm not losing it ! They should correct the headline % gain. Talking of gains - AHT highest gainer for non-small caps today. Keep it up AHT on my calcs this years earnings may grow by 30p . Multiply that by say 13x what does that do for the share price - yes I know some of that is already factored in . | fenners66
12/9/2017 10:34 | Post removed whilst I checked - now reinstated: fenners Buried deep within the text of the announcement is the following: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Group profit before amortisation of intangibles and taxation was GBP238m (2016: GBP184m). After a tax charge of 34% (2016: 34%) of the underlying pre-tax profit, underlying earnings per share increased 30% to 31.5p (2016: 24.2p). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Maybe they are using a different basis? | ianwwwhite
12/9/2017 09:51 | I was looking to model the EPS for the year and noticed this 2017 2016 Growth(1) Earnings per share 30.2p 23.4p 20% But by my reckoning that is 29% growth Error? | fenners66
12/9/2017 08:52 | WOW - what a success story. | rescuer
12/9/2017 08:30 | bracke would be the one to answer that but I think it might be. | james97
12/9/2017 08:11 | New intraday high? | fenners66
12/9/2017 08:04 | Hurricane impact to come - with infrastructure re-build set to continue a few yers - not withstanding they may be facing more hurricanes in the future - no global warming eh Trump? | fenners66
12/9/2017 07:26 | James97 Yes I agree, this one's still a keeper for me.... | ianwwwhite

11/9/2017 22:54 | duplicate post removed - see DD's 5th Sept re Jefferies analyst views on Hurricane Harvey impact on URI. | ianwwwhite
11/9/2017 22:54 | Good luck for tomorrow. | discodave4
11/9/2017 21:11 | Irma not doing as much damage as expected may be why AHT fell today. I hadn't noticed Irma benefiting the share price. Still tomorrow should be positive. | james97 |
