I just looked at the business section of the Daily Express - you know when you are looking at quality journalism , when the accompany an article about Lloyds insurers loses over hurricanes with pictures of Lloyds Bank !!

Yes I neglected to add the cross piece to join the 'tines'. I place quite a few of them on charts and as I know what they are no need to add the cross piece.

The bullish hanging man has proved to be bullish so a house point is awarded but you will have to make a number of correct calls to enter the ranks of the TA Professionals. Keep up the good work and be prepared to back up your calls with £s'.

I note the share price opened up this morning which it often does but soon dropped back and ended on a doji. More effort required.

Thanks, I did wonder re the chart hieroglyphics, but it seemed that Andrew's pitchfork had lost it's handle.

In the meantime, how much further up do we need to go before my recent 'bullish hanging man' diagnosis is declared a success? I'm anxious to get my application to join the ranks of the TA profession under way before he lets go :-)

Good day all

Disco

I will be polite and simply reply 'No'.

They are a 'Pitchfork' not trend lines, although they occasionally act as such. For further explanation Google 'pitchfork trading'.

The top pivot,'C' is not yet confirmed if/when it is there is an 80% probability of price dropping to the middle red line.

Mock ye not. When and I say When the drop does occur consider the affect on AHT.

Good morning bracke,

Many thanks for the charts, very thought provoking indeed.

For the benefit of those readers less familiar with the dark arts, can you remind them what the three parallel descending red lines represent?

Good evening ian

If I had shorted I would have covered when it dropped to yesterdays close so I missed a winning trade BUT........there was no guarantee it would not continue up without a retrace.

Like most I look at the charts and ponder how much longer the markets can continue the rise without a serious pullback eg 10%. I know from experience that the markets can continue a rise or fall a lot longer than we think.

The charts below are a salutary lesson and food for thought.

Good evening bracke

Looks like you dodged a bullet earlier with your mooted short, well done, admirable restraint.

However the siren calls of the shorters are even more powerful now that we have reached a new closing high, beware, I fear they are seekng to suck you in!

(Mythology? Its all Greek to me!)

New All Time Closing High of 1803.

What's it to be:

1 Continue the rise and attempt to break above 1830.

Or

2 Retrace to test 1785 to ascertain if it will support.

Probably depends on how the US markets finish.

"What's the betting their next RNS is to announce another placing?"
====================================================================

Apart from the usual suspects who is going to buy sufficient to make it worth while?

"Have you started another rumour about going short? We seem to be rising..."
=============================================================================

Not me. Maybe it's trying to lure me into a short by moving higher and giving me hope of a larger profit.

Have you a link to the Clontarf RNS please?

EDIT

I found it.

I particularly liked this:

"The realisation of these intangible assets is dependent on the discovery and successful development of economic oil and gas reserves which is affected by the uncertainties outlined above and risks outlined below. Should this prove unsuccessful the value included in the balance sheet would be written off to the statement of comprehensive income.

The group's activities are subject to a number of significant potential risks including:

- licence obligations
- requirement for further funding
- geological and development risks
- title to assets
- political risks"

Known as fully covering one's rear end!

Sorry forgot to say good morning.

Did you see the quiet write off RNS at Clontarf ?

Almost 90% of net assets and the apologists say it's ok!!!

You got to wonder - not my kind of investing

Good day fenners

If I do as you request I will require full funding for my losses.

Have you noticed that immediately following my post the share price dropped, it knew it wasn't going to get me this time.

If your short can guarantee a rise , wait until next April and then go for it!

I am sorely tempted to take a small short seeing that the share price is once again back up to resistance but I know it's taunting me and trying to catch me out.

Were I to take the trade it would immediately break through resistance and power up to new highs laughing all the way.

My psychiatrist tells me that a share price is construct incapable of targeting me but I know different.
