This is what separates an investor from a gambler/amateur. The share priced dropped by a shade under 6% by Close. That is not "hammered" - that is a blip in the grand scheme of things and if you are going to get spooked / tumescent by a 6% change in a share price you shouldn't be here.

To put it into perspective I'm now "only" an average of 54% up in 18 months since purchasing, not 60% Whoopy doo. I'm confident I'll make that up and them some. Go back to your crayons.

Awful performance today. Even with many good things going for airlines these days (like record profits), any tiny hint of negatively and these airlines get smashed. Weeks of good progress trashed in a day. As I always did (and always do), a long long road for the share price to return to its glory days of 7 squid and up. HY numbers later next week. I guess we'll see what EZJ have to say about the negative news re air fares.

Zam1 yes absolutely. I think on the summer routes ryanair are struggling to increase fares where they are are against other operators.
Basically they expected a big rise and they will either match last year or be +5%. Actually it's still too early to tell for sure.
I think that we'll see 6% of the summer easyJet capacity on the holidays sales. Even if the airline are flat this year the holidays profit will make for a stunning result
The ryanair toxicity will be a factor in their future and O'Leary makes that worse.

Much of the growth will be from easyJet holidays and that's their unique position.

The share price is now at its lowest point since Feb, seems you aren't good at predicting, the trend is down not up.

Winter loss is almost unavoidable given that they can't fully occupy their summer capacity in the winter. Even if the planes are full winter pricing is not commercial. Summer prices are typically 5x the winter fare.

Best case for any summer focused airline is winter minimal loss, spring modest profit and summer massive profit.
easyJet Q4 is the summer and they will make around £750m profit if they have only minimal disruption. Q3 around £250m profit giving H2 ballpark £1bn profit. This is based on increased commercial activities and increased fares. The risk is disruption.

Noramping - You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Everyone knows their profits are always heavily weighted to the summer season. Read again the trading update you have added. Where does it say in that update that they will make a net loss this financial year - let alone the silly figures you are posting?

Forecast net profit for 2024 is £519 million - a 60% increase over 2023.

FACT - For the last financial year ended 30 September 2023, easyJet plc revenues increased 42% to £8.17B. Net income totaled £324M.

Its surging to £6, then £8 then the moon according to Sapp, but in the real world the share price is on a downward trend, just check out the graph from Feb onwards.

Noramping - No I do through research before buying into a stock. After that, and assuming there isn't anything stock specific, I will top up on any dips. Today was no exception and seems (so far) to have worked perfectly.

It was clear to me on first inspection that any adverse news wasn't specific to EZJ and their their fundamentals hadn't changed. I sold a chunk this morning and bought that amount back at 501 - not because they are cheap but because of their projected growth in eps this year of 46% and the fact that they have £41 million net cash. I am sure you knew that.
