* integrated restaurants v stand alone.

The breakfast is central to the PI offer, of which WTB is more than aware.

WTB will continue to run a large number of stand alone restaurants, even allowing for conversions and disposals.

WTB shares can be volatile, as with the last November share price dive and then rapid recovery to the year end.

I would guess disappointment is with the number of restaurants they will be left with, even allowing for conversions and those marked for sale.

In terms of financial prospects for WTB, this is very minor.

My only concern would either be a recession, or something leftfield such as another pandemic - hopefully the later is unlikely.

I couldn't agree more, I'm holding for the same reasons. Share price performance on the LSE is more erratic now than I've ever seen, partly due to the upcoming election I guess but that should have far less of an effect on WTB than the majority of shares, in my view.

A few months ago analysts were predicting prices of 4,000p, 4,500p and 4,650p.
Given that WTB have a proven growth strategy, and (as yet) no serious threats I am puzzled by the present price collapse. What has caused such a major divergence?? Continued inflation would increase costs and restrict holiday activity, but it should also lead to more people holidaying in UK. I am holding and expecting a recovery. Press headlines this morning of "Whitbread cuts 1,500 jobs" are misleading - the pubs being sold should take many of their jobs with them, and pubs being converted will result in other jobs being required, and the whole process will last 4 years during which WTB will probably be filling a lot of extra positions. I'm holding - good luck all.

It's kind of odd that Travelodge are buying them to sell, but could they be making themselves more palatable to WTB, if the price is right? Having said that I would prefer to see WTB taken over than be the acquirer!

We will know pretty soon. Q1 will always be relatively quiet in travel and hospitality in Europe. That noted it is unusual to have a relatively weak share price performance with out some underlying reason. I hope the weakness is overdone.

Macro outlook is hardly great, Europe PMI's awful, particularly Germany.

However, in terms of the share price,
it's worth noting WTB is often prone is fat % moves over a short timeframe. Pretty standard fare - but if they warn on the outlook then likely under £30.

The meaty BOD Sell made me cautious (I highlighted it at the time) but looking to buy back in.

It seems that there is an industry survey out this morning called STR weekly market data indicating a decline in RevPAR.

Also, an Irish hotels group called Dalata has reported figures this morning and the share price has declined by 6%.

Looks like some extrapolation has been applied and assumptions made. I think probably very tenuous.

Phil - how do you apply for card ? ( I’m with Barclays ). Sorry if this is a repeat questions.

V happy with wtb share price. Bought about 12 months ago in height of truss panic. Invested as premier inn is my preferred choice when using reasonable price hotels. (So much better than travel lodge etc).

From the above..
"With restaurants set to re-open from Monday, we asked our Twitter followers to nominate a listed food chain as stock of the week. They’ve chosen the first item on the menu, Whitbread (WTB), which owns the likes of Beefeater and Brewer’s Fayre restaurants. After the latest winter lockdown, England has been slowly re-opening in recent months, with pub and restaurant goers able to eat and drink outside from April 12 but only do so inside from May 17."

Also there is the Staycation factor seen to be a plus for the Premier Inn hotel chain.

We could see a rise in the WTB share price tomorrow as long as vaccinations continue to appear to be effective against the Indian Covid variant.
