Over the past two decades, The Estée Lauder Companies' BCA
Campaign, launched by the late Evelyn H.
Lauder, co-creator of the Pink Ribbon and founder of BCRF,
has been a leading voice for breast cancer awareness around the
world, sparking a global movement that has helped save millions of
lives and fund groundbreaking breast cancer research. Today, The
BCA Campaign is active in more than 70 countries and has raised
more than $58 million to support
global research, education and medical services, with nearly
$46 million funding 185 BCRF medical
research grants worldwide over the past 21 years. These funds have
directly resulted in significant innovations and improvements in
care, from the launch of an early-phase breast cancer vaccine trial
to improved ways to assess risk in young girls from families with
multiple cases of breast cancer. This year, The BCA Campaign is
committed to raising $6 million to
support global breast cancer research, education and medical
services and will continue to evolve its focus from enhanced
awareness to increased action.
William P. Lauder, Executive
Chairman of The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. stated, "I have the
unique privilege of being able to witness the diverse efforts of
our colleagues and partners around the globe and championing their
visions for The BCA Campaign. I can't help but think about how
proud my mother would be to know that her effort continues to gain
momentum and continues to have an important impact on people's
lives each and every day. Every action taken in this fight brings
us closer to our goal of ending breast cancer."
Central to The 2015 BCA Campaign is a global, interactive
digital experience, brought to life through BCAcampaign.com and
social media @BCAcampaign. An uplifting video, spotlighting
authentic actions from around the world, will serve as inspiration
and encourage people to share how they take action by posting a
photo, video or message on BCAcampaign.com or on Instagram or
Twitter using #BCAstrength. For every action submitted on
BCAcampaign.com or unique post on Instagram or Twitter with
#BCAstrength between October 1, 2015
and World Cancer Day on February 4,
2016, The Estée Lauder Companies will donate $25 to fund a half-hour of breast cancer research
through BCRF, with the goal of funding up to 500 research hours
($25,000) through the support of the
global digital community. This is just one part of The BCA
Campaign's broader global fundraising efforts.
Throughout the year, actions submitted from across the globe
will be curated and featured on BCAcampaign.com to showcase the
power of collective efforts to defeat breast cancer. For the first
time, The BCA Campaign is enlisting the support of its global
community to curate an international, multimedia project that will
be unveiled worldwide on World Cancer Day, February 4, 2016. All actions submitted on
BCAcampaign.com between October 1 and
December 31, 2015 will be eligible for inclusion. This
inspiring project will beautifully capture the range of actions
being taken around the world to end this disease.
Fabrizio Freda, President and CEO
of The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. said, "At The Estée Lauder
Companies, we believe that each person can play a role in helping
to defeat breast cancer through unique and impactful action. I am
so proud of our Company's collective achievements around the world,
as we continue to elevate global education and medical research for
breast health through The BCA Campaign."
Elizabeth Hurley, Global
Ambassador for The BCA Campaign stated, "We have accomplished so
much, but there's still a lot of work ahead of us to make breast
cancer a thing of the past. Simple gestures, from reminding your
friends to schedule their annual health appointments to making a
donation in a loved one's honor to support lifesaving research, can
go a long way. When we join together and take action together for a
common goal, we really can accomplish anything."
