Some more positive news:

"BTG bid delivers boost to Woodford and Barnett funds"

Woodford has long been a backer of the company, which floated on the stock market in 1995, investing through his Invesco Income (UK) and High Income (UK) funds, positions maintained by Barnett, his successor on the funds.

Woodford invested again when launching his Woodford Equity Income fund, with BTG a 1.8% position in his £5.1 billion portfolio.

Class post - I had to up-tick you for using that 1990's clubland moniker "posse".

I know that is the hand of solonic at work, it's a fair point about BTG.

As to the contagion and cross contamination theories, as Woodford has sold £1.4BN of shares reportedly in the last six months, we can salute his fund managing prowess as regards keeping the show on the road.

I do however think the question was a valid one given his concentration on the UK stockmarket and the HUGE amount of unquoted in WPCT. It must be noted the resiliance has not been tested under a liquidity issue.

What I'm looking for is to get into the mind of Woodford. I mean the guy has been firefighting for months now it must be incredibly intense managing such an unweildy portfolio. And now he is holed up in court over this Tinkler stinkler. No idea how he copes really.

Autolus up 11% today!!! I bring glad tidings, we are almost into the season of goodwill.

Hey "jonwiggery-pokery"! I looove that. Why didn't I think of that? I shall treasure it and use it when it is appropriate. (50 times before the end of the year, then? Ed.)

Clear upward trend ... steady since May ... market and you just don't seem to see eye-to-eye, Tom. Can't be you of course. So it must be the market that's getting it all wrong.

Last time I looked at the listings there was a small amount of ALM in WPCT. I am sure you are right BL but what on earth does that say, ALM wasn't good enough for WPCT yet was good enough for the other funds???

A totally funky trade if you ask me.

What is the statistical probability of having 17 ex university companies and not one of them being any good??? Sounds like a 3 SD event to me and should be investigated.

The other thing to take from ALM is Woodford is the last person to discover ALM is not working out. How can he be so far behind the curve like this???

Honestly it won't surprise me if Proton Partners turns out to be a total loss in the financial sense, how do they actually make money???

You may not be aware of this, winnie, because you don't do much research, but ALM is not in the WPCT portfolio. So the vast majority here on this thread could not give a fig!

Why don't you and jonwig and minerve found another thread and call it "Assorted Trolls from Disaffected WPCT Shareholders"

Presumably you all bought at c.120p hoping to make a quick killing on Woodford's name.

You should have sold at that point instead!

Well done you two.

There is still the question of ALM though and I think a post mortem is due. From what I read ALM had been passed over by the US investment industry only Woodford thought he knew better.

Itcm. Yes I am aware of that you sad inbred webtoed little mong trying to make the best of your shxxy little investments you sad loser along with most of these other penniless deadbeats, loving watching this cxxp tanking while earning every day shorting junk like this, weakness in the likes of AM weakens ALL of the Woodford vehicles becos he shunts stuff around to plug the problems, you utter cretin. Losses like AM and Prothena take it all down as all the funds/trusts are crossover incestuous, just like you.

It's almost the same story for me chucko1. I already had a lot of BTG but I also took the opportunity to buy more when the thick shorters began to nibble, and the shareprophets started their doom and gloom propaganda. They didn't do their homework properly either.

Woodford appeared in the High Court today. Not for his almost criminal mismanagement of his funds, but as a witness in the Tinkler/Stobart trial:

"I am am shocked to see that Stobart has chosen to make allegations that I was a party to a ‘conspiracy217; to use ‘unlawful means’ to ‘injure the company,’ ” Woodford, a former star money manager at Invesco Perpetual, said in his witness statement.

In court Monday, Woodford said it was clear that Tinkler and Ferguson “could not coexist on the board,” and if he “was being forced” to choose between the two, he’d choose Tinkler.

Stobart, which provides services to British airports and railroad operators, accused Tinkler of conspiring with Woodford and others to try to remove Chairman Iain Ferguson. Tinkler denies any wrongdoing.

Starting in January, Tinkler “was actively campaigning for Ferguson to be ousted as chairman,” the company said in its earlier court filings.

Woodford Investment Management’s funds own just over 19.5 percent of Stobart Group’s shares, Woodford said in court on Monday.

Immunocore has a blue chip list of investors, such as Eli Lilly, Malin, Fidelity (still, I think), Roche (parent of today's partner), etc. So this company could be a significant and credible success for NW.

The other two aren't big enough to count - and NW can't participate in funding rounds.

That is the problem with funds as opposed to trusts. You can end up having to find liquidity when people sell at the bottom of the market and only buy at the top of the market instead of the other way round. I like to buy my Christmas cards in January rather than at least twice the price in December.

Any views on the portfolio update? Sounds positive for the patient this time.
