Premier Inn should get a big boost from the olympics you would have thought

Have sold now, after holding varying amounts since October 2008. The price has done very well over that time but my graphs are looking a bit toppy now, after rising from just over 1,400p last August. Costa like growth is slowing and in the recession cheaper chains may erode its position further (Greggs doing very well). Also a lot of focus on dividends now, so investors may move to high-dividend shares with December yearends such as Aviva, and WTB yearend in Feb is close to utilities, some of which yield 6%pa compared to WTB 3%. All just IMHO - good luck to all including holders.

I see the new 'faster payments' initiative doesn't apply to dividend payments.

Yeh,
Actually as i recently found out it is closer to £2k per day. The costa in the next (small) town makes three times that. Think things have slowed a little in the last few days but nice little earner compared to say clothes retailling.
Great mark up on sales - cup of coffee and cake real cost 50p - retails £5
Minor theft issues - all goods paid for in advance.
Fresh stock every day so can respond instantly to customer trends.
Just wish i had invested my money directly in one of these and not in shares- lol

New Costa opened up in my tow - very busy.
I believe they have been making around £1000 a day net.

Thank you for the tips round-up.

As a wtb holder I Iike to patronise Costa.

I was ripped off in a Starbucks yesterday.

I usually try to avoid them.

£3.30 for their large cappucino - which turned out to be a deep mug of mostly froth.

Never again!

I suppose it depends if you think the last few months have been
a correction within a bull market, or whether a new bear market
in underway - this is likely to be clear by January.

phil (msg 162) the odd thing about the Blackrock RNS is that it says the transaction took place in February but the company was not notified until December. Is it a mistake or did I misunderstand?

EI, agree with that scenario.

Just wondering how much of that is already priced in ? That`s always the tricky one :-)

phil I think Q1 2012 will be bloody for many consumer companies,
March/April time may just be a better opportunity if you can wait -
don't hold me to that, only a personal view as always.
The IMS read well to me given the economic backdrop.
