10/3/2009 20:45 | UK analyst today adding detail to more or less what I thought: Seymour Pierce initiated its coverage of leisure group Whitbread (WTB) with a 'buy' stance and a 918p price target, saying the company must have one of the strongest funding positions in UK leisure. "Whilst not immune to the economic downturn Whitbread has some key strategic advantages, namely its strong balance sheet, business structure and its relatively superior earnings visibility," commented the broker. "It has a healthy stream of profits from three business divisions, two of which have defensive characteristics. The shares look like a value play, currently trading on 8 times 09 EPS," it added. The broker's price target is based on 12 times 2010 earnings forecasts. Whitbread shares climbed by 35p to 765p. | what is a login ?

22/2/2009 19:30 | I'm looking to set up a 'One-Way-Bet' club and am looking for 5 or 6 members tops. The idea is that from my experience about 4 or 5 times a year you discover a share that you are certain (98%) will rise over the short term. I'm defining the short term as 5 weeks. As your certain it will rise, it duly does rise and you make lots of money. The rules of the club are: you goal is to recommend a share to club members that duly does rise at least 10% within 5 weeks. If before rising your share falls more than 10% you have failed. Your first 5 recommendations need to be 100% sucessful otherwise on your first failure you are thrown out the club. Thereafter you are allowed one failure for every 5 successes, more than this and you are thrown out the club. Club members who have been thrown out may never return. Full logic for your recommendations should be enclosed, giving club members the opportunity to make up their own minds. This club by its above definition is for members of great integrity only. Think carefully what a one-way-bet is. It is a rare occurance. It guarantess 100% success. It is envisaged that each club member would only contribute on a rare basis (maybe 4 or 5 times a year) given that failure results in automatic expulsion from the club. The club will communicate via an email address list. Anyone interested?? My email halleypa@yahoo.co.uk | cambodia
12/2/2009 17:41 | Hope you come to the right decision bb. Each man has to have the strategy that is right for him. My portfolio is a mixed ragbag. I like it that way. I consider Whitbread as one of the more sensible ones.(Mind you I once thought that about RBS) No one can predict the effects of the current slump. I have BP and a recent punt on ROK property. I don't know how to do research. I think the thing to be wary of is debt or leverage or whatever word is used these days. I never really checked with WTB. Looks like WTB has just repeated its sub 800 bouncing act.... | what is a login ?
12/2/2009 11:36 | thank goodness - someone else still here! It's under 800p again now.......hmmm I'm tempted. Must do a bit more research though. | bigbertie
12/2/2009 10:54 | I have been following in a desultory fashion. In the past WTB has always bounced back, for a while, after falling below 800p. I have a few of these tucked away purchased at about 1200p. The regular divis are a consolation. Because of eggs and baskets I'm not planning to buy any more. | what is a login ?
11/2/2009 12:11 | Anyone following these? I was considering a purchase as cheap hotels sound like a long-term winner, but recent savage downgrade by Credit Suisse to underform (from outperform) and target price down to 720p (from 1,420). Not sure why - perhaps fears over weakness in pubs & coffee shops? Anyway Credit Suisse last target price was completely wrong. Any input? | bigbertie

14/8/2008 08:22 | which one was that Don so we can all avoid the breakfast there until they improve it!? | bountyhunter
13/8/2008 15:23 | i do not like Primer Inn any more. i prefer to live there 1-2 years before, but now the rate is up too high. i think they should change their management. the resturant they provide is awful, the breakfast let me sick. | don777
11/7/2008 09:57 | Very disappointing share price performance. So much for the hype from the brokers and other "experts". I think I must have been caught up in a "suckers rally". As with some other shares in my portfolio, I'll simply hang on to what I've got, get the dividends, and wait for better days. | what is a login ?
29/6/2008 09:55 | Perhaps you could try writitng to the company secretary, Sure Thing, if the website hasn't got the details. I am always irritated by questionniares asking what is the purpose of your visit and the like. Things are often more complex than that. I am just looking in to see whether anyone has posted the recent Telegraph buy recommendation (Questor 22nd June): | what is a login ?
25/6/2008 10:02 | Does anyone know the breakdown of Premier Inn's clients (e.g. business, national tourist, international tourist)? | surething1
20/6/2008 13:26 | A shame to see the recent rally wiped away so quickly. It seems to be the same story with a lot of stocks in the present market. | what is a login ?
17/6/2008 08:46 | yes very encouraging given the state of the economy - I guess that Premier Inns are picking up customers who may have previously stayed at more expensive hotels as well as having extra rooms through expansion | bountyhunter |
