Strong trading momentum continued with total UK accommodation sales up 25% versus FY22 and up 36% versus FY20, representing a 26.3pp outperformance of the M&E market(3).

Also a very strong performance in Germany.

Should move from strength to strength now as Dominic from Domino's takes over as CEO!

Whitbread shareholders looking for reassurances from third quarter update


Premier Inn owner Whitbread PLC's (LSE:WTB) third quarter trading update next Thursday will see shareholders checking in to try and find comfort over the issues which have caused shares to slip by 11% over the last 12 months and over 30% since before the pandemic.

The shares have been weighed down by a slowing economy in its key UK and German markets, said analysts at AJ Bell, along with the squeeze on consumer incomes as a result of soaring inflation and forecast downgrades as a result of higher energy, staff and input costs.

In terms of hard figures, City analysts will be keeping an eye out for sales growth, revenue per available room (REVPAR), comments on inflation and any efforts to mitigate those and any guidance on profit for the year.

Yes it's taking a while isn't it!
Maybe the uninspiring CEO leaving and being replaced by Dominic the Domino's CEO will trigger a rerating. I've forgotten the current one's name already ;)

This share has been an absolute dog for the last three years. Hopefully the improvement in trading will start to impact the share price soon.

In the Travel and Leisure space meanwhile, shares of Whitbread were outperforming after analysts at J.P.Morgan lifted their 2023 earnings per share estimates for the company by 8%, placing them on Positive Catalyst Watch.
