(Alliance News) - Whitbread PLC on Wednesday said it has bought a freehold property on the Strand in central London, located just off Trafalgar Square.

The Bedfordshire-based hospitality company said that the 5 Strand property will become the latest hub in the Premier Inn hotel estate.

"Hub by Premier Inn is designed for locations in major cities where property prices are relatively high but, thanks to its smaller room format, is still able to generate attractive long-term returns whilst providing affordable rooms for guests," Whitbread explained.

The UK's biggest hotel company Premier Inn is delighted to confirm it has appointed Silentnight as its official bed supplier as it invests in its most technologically-advanced bed yet to the benefit of guest experience.

The new partnership represents a significant financial investment for Premier Inn and will see tens of thousands of new and exclusive enhanced-specification beds roll out in hotels across the UK, Ireland Germany and the UAE from October.

I`m with Halifax too (iweb sharedealing) and i have had to apply each year for a few years now to get my benefits card.
As bounty says, get them to send a letter of conformation you hold enough shares to qualify (64) and copy and email linkgroup. Card is valid till May23.

Here's to Free Breakfasts & 10% off the restaurant! All we need now is a complete share recovery. Staff recruitment is a major problem all over the hospitality & service industries. Since Brexit it's extremely difficult to recruit from EU countries. This really needs sorting now before everything grinds to a complete halt.

Don’t try asking Halifax Sharedealing to get one for you. They state they are unable to do so, offering up the tried and tested GDPR rules preventing them from sharing the information with Whitbread.
It’s an appalling lack of customer service on their part!

With the last set of results not much more than a month ago reporting "very strong trading ahead of expectations in the UK and Germany" I'm expecting a continuation. Even if sold out doesn't mean 100% occupancy the prices per room have been elevated especially at weekends which suggests to me occupancy is at least high even if not 100%.

I spent a lot of time in Premier Inns over the past three weeks. I have a funny feeling “sold out” doesn’t mean 100% occupancy. I’m guessing in certain locations they have inadequate staff numbers and are selling less rooms. As for Brewers Fayre, some are a disaster. I was in one in Scotland last Sunday. There was no carvery; not enough cooks. The kitchen was closed for an hour and a half in the afternoon; not enough cooks. I went to the bar to get a pint. The girl behind the bar told me she could not take money or serve me a pint as she was only 17. Another staff member had to be found. It was absolutely dire.

Yes if you hold in a nominee account you do have to request it. Simply send your broker a message requesting the Whitbread benefits card and they will send you one or send proof of your holding with instructions on how to get the card from the registrar. This is the time to do it as the card runs all the way to the end of June 2023 from recollection.

Premier Inn Starts Construction on First All-Electric Hotel


Whitbread PLC, owner and operator of the U.K.’s largest hotel firm by asset number, has started construction on what it claims is its first “all-electric” hotel, a 195-room asset in Swindon, Wiltshire, England. A news release from the firm said the hotel is “to be designed without a connection to a natural gas supply. Instead, the hotel will be fully heated and powered by grid energy generated from renewable sources and by on-site photovoltaic cells.”

Alex Flach, U.K. development director at the firm, which has more than 840 Premier Inn hotels in the U.K. and Ireland, said “if we are to achieve our target of becoming a net-zero business by 2040, we need to find a replacement for natural gas across our estate. This is a considerable challenge as we rely on natural gas to heat water in our network of hotels and power many of our restaurant kitchens across the country.”

“Premier Inn UK continues to outperform the sector by some margin with impressive LFL sales momentum augmented by new openings and extensions.

“This performance is being driven by both strong occupancy and room rate across the Regions and now also London.

"F&B and Germany have also recovered more rapidly than expected.”

This should lead to further upgrades, higher dividends and or buybacks in the broker's view.

Buy with a 3,320p target implying around 32% upside from today’s 2,506p.

Good news that fat lump AB is on her way, the Costa proceeds all entirely up in smoke on insane buybacks at multi years highs should have been reason enough for her to go some time ago. That money should have just been returned as one special dividend, the whole lot, buybacks only work with fast growing highly cash generative companies, this has never been that. It’s lost a prize asset and all the cash proceeds, I actually think it’s over valued at 25 quid, Iv traded it around covid 20 quid mark and that worked well but it’s got little upside, no real cash return and there’s a ton of downside risk being invested in basket case U.K.

a vacant plot of land would also not do well on a p/e multiple.

there's probably about £5.5-£6bn of property here, so it's trading at around a 15-20% discount to that taking into account net financial debt.

So when did you know that the new CEO was going to be Dominic Paul? I view it as a good appointment as I said but his appointment last week was a surprise. Plenty of potential here still imho despite the wider market downturn.
