Somewhere in yesterdays Sunday Times it was saying "Home School is the future of education". - I'll see if I can dig it out....

bigboyblue: Harrow are really trying to flog their school too (£15,000 a year) - with write ups in Daily Mail online:
Clearly you'd be mad to spend £15K on online version of Harrow when you get get WEY miles cheaper (and probably a lot better).
Anyway, yes, competition hotting up! Everyone is trying to get their share of students who normally go to private schools and this term, for various reasons, from dad is unemployed to immune issues, will be trying online.

It would be nice to get some feedback. But perhaps it will be a bit later than normal, who knows. Hope its next week though, still got to be favourite.

boadicea: Thanks - I guess we all thought as much - I tend to wrap all that up in the phrase "mm magic" as its basically higher maths (numbers theory) is magic.

Netcurtains - "mm's ... weird magic"!

Published deals are as likely to confuse as to enlighten!
Multiple large deals quite often appear without seeming to have any notable price effect. The things I look out for are deals in matching pairs within seconds of each other which I take to be portfolio shuffling, possibly between trust accounts etc. or arranged swaps. If the deals don't quite match on size or price, then likely a B&B, the difference covering the costs of the move etc.
Above all, remember that the buy/sell attribution by advfn is only a guess based on the nominal mid-price and finally, with AT trades, if the buyer is on the book it shows as a sell so the price can rise on a page apparently full of sells (and vice versa.)

Couple of buys creeping in. Not sure if they are trying to avoid the blood bath on FTSE100 or buying in for potential update next week... Interesting...

16 hours ago a breakout alert was issued for WEY:
"

quite hefty sells and price gone up a bit. I guess potentially a big buy in the wings? Or MMs doing some weird magic .....

Well if the good school guide is widely read enough that report should boost the figures nicely. I'm sure I've read the report before but that new format is excellent.
Nicely done!

Just been looking through the new website; it really is a big improvement, evidence perhaps of increased effort on marketing beyond the advertising campaigns we have seen in recent years.

I see WEY has a very good write up in the Good Schools Guide for 2020, near the bottom of this page:
Is this new or have I missed it before?

My daughter found summer WEY school to be average, like other schools efforts (she's not a huge fan of this type of engagement). She left interhigh when we returned to UK from abroad, at the time Interhigh was by far best option. Wey had just started using the "Lead" and "Follow" lesson structure. Up till then I found the lessons I watched to be typical including the full range of teaching competence from very poor to much more effective.

from this parent facing article it seems to be more mature now:
hxxps://muddystilettos.co.uk/kids/interhigh-school-review-online-education/

So interesting to see over time how the integrity they are working on specifically in "teaching online" as a discreet and specialist learnable skillset. There are other longer term issues being discussed in the article also which indicates a willingness to grapple with long term growth and a genuinely different model for education delivery.

Looking forward to the update end Aug, or more likely the actual numbers in Nov.

Just 8 working days (if dont count today and 31st is a bank holiday) until end of august.

If they are going to release a trading update in August we dont have many days left...

Last year the RNS trading update was on the 28th August which was a Wednesday - this time 28th is a Friday. This sort of implies 26th August is also a good candidate for update as well as the 28th:

If you read last years update they were profitable despite those "one off costs".
this year we do not have those costs.
Thus (I guess) WEY can spend a lot more on everything (marketing, sales, websites, teachers, the works).
The update should make interesting reading.

I guess 19 days to an update (end of August) so perhaps a bit of a rally might start today... You could be right jurgenklopp.....

There is always a trading update at the end of August so, hopefully, we will get a good idea of how well WEY is actually doing in the next couple of weeks.

OK looks like I read it wrong. I thought people buying ready for new school year - but perhaps a bit early.

Sorry.
