Looks like those who bought expecting an update are selling a bit disappointed... I must admit it is a bit disappointing. However I guess we did have this in JULY which we have now to assume is still correct:

Trading has continued to be very positive since the publication of the group's interim announcement in May and is in excess of expectations. Group turnover is expected to be in excess of £8m for the financial year ending on August 31, 2020, an anticipated growth of in excess of 30% from the previous year.

But alas it does not look like we will get any info on how things are now until results in October ..... So one would expect slight dip now and perhaps a start of recovery towards end of September (two to three weeks time) as we get within a month of results.

If anyone hears or sees any info on WEY advertising or jobs at WEY or how the sector is doing in general please paste on this board to let people know as I think company announcements are going to be very thin on the ground until results.

The Sun says THOUSANDS of children in Scotland are self isolating - including whole clsses. This must also be a problem with fee paying schools.

Net @321: certainly a possibility. Wey have already made it clear that they are open to spending some of their cash pile on suitable acquisitions. Regarding a takeover of Wey, what about someone like LTG? Their business is more in adult/employee learning and training, but they might fancy broadening their portfolio. They raised £80m in May specifically for acquisitions, but as far as I know they haven't spent any of it yet.

According to their half year trading statement (23rd July) they have £98m in cash. The statement includes the following: 'This robust capital position will enable the Group to take advantage of value-enhancing acquisition opportunities as they emerge, as well as capturing the benefits of the acceleration of structural trends towards digital learning and talent management. The Board continues to pursue a
number of acquisition opportunities and looks forward to updating the market on developments during the year.'

Missed the non-event today as travelled. to Poland for my som’s wedding tomorrow. However very nice tick-up. Feel sure they are holding back as since March with the Coronavirus taking hold and no real end in sight can only see the uptake more rather than in line with expectations. The possibility of a buyout is interesting and feel quietly confident whichever way the cookie crumbles.

bigboyblue: The other story is the 100K trades that keep popping up every now and again...

Its as if there is another story being played out behind the scenes - Is there a take-over of WEY or by WEY going on .... I should imagine some of the big holders of WEY might want to move on or WEY might want to quickly build up its portfolio of remote learning companies ... I feel there is another story we're missing here too.

I agree some pretty detailed report should be expected, but they may not have the full picture until the new term begins. Then I suppose the question is do they give an update then, or does it just come in the annual report?

bibboyblue: I would like some info at the beginning of potentially the most important term in WEYs history... Covid19 2020 September is pretty big....

I guess if we get no update it implies "not doing better than expected, and not doing worse than expected, but just doing as expected" - which is an update of sorts.

But it lacks any sense of history. This is an important moment for the nation. The ups and downs of home school and remote learning should be archived.

Perhaps they don't feel it's necessary. If you look at last year's, it only gave a figure for turnover. We had that as recently as 17th July, and a guide to profits. If they are still looking at £8m+ and £0.5m+ then there's no need to repeat.

Well Trading Update is not the 28th August (at least not yet). I wonder if that will cause a bit of sell off? Or more buying? Or have no affect?

LOL - perhaps one day that will happen - we will be able to implant memory of facts direct into the brain (it was also used in Matrix movie - about 10 years later).

The 28th August last year was a WEDNESDAY so Trading Update did not happen today (possibly fall in price related to that). Most likely candidate for a trading update is Friday 28th (again)....
But if not Friday I guess beginning of September sometime...

Anyone with any views as to when we'll get an update on numbers...

The thing with InterHigh, you can join even after term starts - so even well into September they will be getting more pupils. So numbers can only be a guide not a hard and fast number.

On 3 May 2013, Mitra's TED Talk "Build a School in the Cloud" was featured in NPR's TED Radio hour on "Unstoppable Learning". In the program, Mitra discusses the "Hole in the Wall" experiment. Mitra claimed that children in the rural slums of India, many of whom had never seen a computer in their lives had, when left with computers in kiosks, taught themselves everything from "character mapping" to advanced topics such as "DNA replication" on their own, without adult assistance. He suggested this would lead to "unstoppable learning" through a "worldwide cloud" – where children would pool their knowledge and resources in the absence of adult supervision to create a world of self-promoted learning.

Mitra was the TED Prize winner in 2013.
