you can't beat £350m government funding (obviously not all of it to WEY).

Further links following on from that:

Nothing that specifically mentions us, but sounds like stuff we may be involved in.

Just appeared on the DfE website.

Sir Peter Lampl, founder and chairman of the Sutton Trust and chairman of the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF), said:

“Despite the heroic efforts of schools, many pupils’ learning has suffered as a result of school closures. These children are drawn disproportionately from disadvantaged communities and need extensive support.”

“We are delighted that the government is announcing a large sum today to benefit those pupils who need it the most. We are proud to support the tutoring programme. Extensive trials show that high-quality tuition is a cost-effective way to enable pupils to catch up. Through a collaboration of organisations across the country, our aim is to make this tuition available to tens of thousands of primary and secondary school pupils. Our hope is that it becomes a powerful tool for teachers in the years to come.”

The only questions for me are: who pays and will summer school be compulsory. If 5 million UK school children are going to be offered free summer schooling through providers like Wey, that will be big. If attendance is compulsory, then it will be massive. Add in the International opportunities and it gets mindbendingly big.

OK just suppose WEY have won a government summer school contract.
It really depends on how many other companies have also won contracts.

If WEY are doing the lot (unlikely) then that would be huge (one would have thought). I say unlikely but if its for AI and management then perhaps that is possible.

If WEY are one of a select few (say 25 companies or less) that would also be pretty big

If WEY are going it alone then we dont know what that means - it depends how many pupils they get by themselves.

I think those are the three main options

we're all guessing like mad

Cheers Net.

Agree net that the summer school itself may not be big news, but the benefit is that it may introduce WEY to many more potential customers.

Not sure what you mean by "broken" as it all looked fine to me, but I have converted to a TinyURL that should make it easier.

The fact that they have established an "accreditation" system, would indicate that online schooling is going to become much more mainstream and - to my mind - more integrated with the current public schooling systems. Interesting to note that foreign organisations are likely to be prohibited from registration on the accreditation system.

This could be huge.

longshanks thanks

My assumptions are:
1. Government announcement on Friday post 4:30pm about summer school(s)
2. WEY Announcement on Monday (perhaps via new summer school website).
3. News possibly not as big as people optimistically guessing.
4. The BIG news for WEY will be numbers for September term (Whenever we have those)
not the summer school(I could be wrong about the lot - its all a guess)

For some reason - I can't see your text as a link on my phone, Net.

I have set it up as a TinyURL as below:

I have been back to the Vox Markets interview with WEY (J Daniell) on 13th May - well worth listening to for a reminder/perspective, contemporary feel and potential scope/growth.
