Interesting times....
The count down to OPENING!!!
Will there be a marketing campaign? InterHigh are making a bit of a "business" thing about it so expecting something good.

IQE up loads today (on results) so thats good for WELSH companies (aka WEY)...
I wonder if WEY should start to do a Welsh language online course.
'Hidden' was a great Welsh/English TV detective series.

...sorry to hark on about the press release again.
I'm thinking the point about it might be that this year
they have combined the AI study/grant with the summer school...
And perhaps this year its possible WEY are expecting
significant demand for their summer school.
Thus, possibly at some point in the summer (perhaps week or so)
we might get an RNS saying something about the numbers
at the Summer school or something about this years summer school.
Possibly its kind of like advance warning to us small investors that
they have not forgotten about us.... Anyway that is possible.

Tightfist: the AGM in January passed a special resolution allowing the company to purchase up to 27m of its shares, see page 66:
Presumably this suggests that a buyback is at least under consideration, but we also know that they would consider acquisitions as that has been mentioned in interviews.

tightfist: Nope - they just said "under pressure to use it" - I guess dividend, marketing, buy something. Any mixture of those....

Hi NC, the financial considerations are upfront, but in the Kudos stakes? I have seen an RNS from others for far less!.Couldn't tune in last week - I would be aggrieved to see OUR cash squandered, did a handsome dividend or buy-back enter into discussion?.Cheers, tightfist

Shanklin: The Summer School should be interesting - as now it should be using AI... I wonder if it has a demo site for anyone to get a feel for the AI they are using?

shanklin you probably can find the grant size in this government website - but I Suspect most of these have not produced an RNS:

Thank you for posting this NC.

It would have to be a very trivial sum of money not to justify some form of RNS.

LOL - I have no concrete idea tightfist. Its clearly not price sensitive as WEY already (I think) have a summer school. I guess the grant amount possibly is not that large (no sum is mentioned in the press release). You would have thought we would have a covid announcement but perhaps there is some trade secrets at present - we have Pearson joining with Harrow (about 10 days ago) so a big FTSE 100 company is linking up with home schools. We heard at the investor evening that WEY are under some pressure to spend their cash pile (perhaps on marketing or perhaps buying something)... I guess this time period might need to be a quiet time for the company.

Hello NC,Much appreciate your insight and contributions to this BB. Please tell me - why do you think this is not (yet?) befitting of an RNS?.Thanks, tightfist

nice tick up again...

RSI is still low so stock clearly no where near over bought (more like under bought)...
(see 2nd chart from bottom - according to google if over 70 tends to be overbought (or bull run or chart breakout), so we're well under that.

Thats a pretty big buy gone through (23p) for nearly £37,000...
Nice bit of confidence. :-)

(well done longshanks - as long as that is better than monkeyWithPin - I think that is doing quite well too last time I looked).

talking of big BUYS someone just bought about £4M of FRAS (sports direct) - thats a big buy... (I sold CSP for about £100 profit and bought FRAS)

In these uncertain times, cash has its attractions.I seem to consistently beat fund performance but I recognise that my approach is more high risk than any FM would be allowed to employ. Also I can benefit from moving in and out of less liquid stocks easier than any fund could. I am in the top 20 of the 2020 stock challenge (Stockchallenge.co.uk) with a creditable 59% so far. I put this more down to luck than expertise though.

Bigboyblue: For example - I sold PEARSON for peanut profit - but its gone up and up and up.... Arghhhhhh.... Not to mention PHEONIX insurance.... Everything the app picks tends to dip down a bit then shoot up - I sell too quick as I'm "relieved" to get my money back and a tiny profit - I should trust the SHARE PICK more (they have been reasonably well researched - even if via automated approach) - I've got to let it run a bit longer before selling. FRASERS (Sports Direct) worked OK... I'm currently in CSP (countryside houses) - thats also doing OK ....

Sounds interesting. I too am hopeless at knowing when to sell (and buy come to think of it!) so I tend to hold for the long term rather than try to trade.
