California is the golden egg but I want to know what management are doing about increasing the customer base, how they are going about it, what is working, are they looking at Canada, etc, etc, etc. There’s massive growth in the US / N American market; they grow their customer base and they will have suitors prepared to pay decent amounts for W&W (WEB) regardless what happens with California.

Not sure if I’ve posted it before but this is from last years Chairman’s report

It now seems a certainty that more and more states will continue to legalise sports betting in the next two years, including California, the most complex but lucrative state. As a result, the Board believes that now is the time to escalate our plans to take advantage of our position. As a relatively small but well positioned company, we will upgrade our profile on several levels. This includes to reviewing and improving our Board structure, especially in the USA, plus increasing our presence in California and our overall profile in the industry. One key factor is educating the decision-makers and regulators to understand the fiscal benefits of including mobile wagering within retail operations.
Overall, we consider the company to be undervalued on key metrics and our potential for growth it is important that now we “fight above our weight’ to make the industry aware of this. We will keep shareholders fully informed of developments in our exciting future strategies.

This is getting really boring now!
Surely we're due another Webis run again soon?

Piece (7 Feb 2022) just applying a little pressure to California and Ohio; “They are not stopping people in their jurisdictions from betting, they are stopping them from betting legally. Americans all over the country are going to bet on the Super Bowl, whether illegal or legal.”

Some notable 'handles' from Dec 2021.

(Some solid numbers for a Monday on the contests; 11 players playing $111 winner takes all games, 36 @ $13, 2 @ $430, etc)

Price is holding up extremely well considering the drip drip drip of small sells that have been occurring, news could come any time but another couple of weeks seems most likely.

Some bits. Continuing talk of ‘consolidation’ amid record numbers; understandable as the market in the US looks brutal. But the tournaments / contests that W&W run provide clear net income of around 10%, separate to the main wagering. This will be attractive to potential suitors, but WEB can do loads better in terms of how they market this niche area. Reckon there’s massive growth there.

“A bill has been introduced in the Mississippi Legislature to legalize horse racing. HB 588, entitled the Horse Racing Act of 2022, would create the Mississippi State Racing Commission and authorize live horse racing.

Let’s just remind ourselves of the final paragraphs of the Chairman’s statement RNS’d in late Feb 2021.

USA Expanded Gaming
It cannot have gone unnoticed to shareholders and observers alike that the sustained growth of USA licensed expended gambling is the hottest subject in the global industry. In that regard, Webis and our principal subsidiary WatchandWager, remain very well- positioned as a licensed operator in many states, and of course in California. Almost all factors are in our favour with legislation passing or on the verge of passing in many key states, as updated almost daily both in trade and financial media. At the same time, many major large multi-national gambling entities continue to search for merger or acquisition of key assets in the USA. This is compounded due to the ongoing downturn in the industry, in the UK, where the affordability review is a very real threat to non-USA players, unlike our operation. On top of that the unfortunate economic impact of Covid-19 and other natural disasters has hastened the need for more taxes and duties in states, especially in California.
In the meantime, we would continue to thank our staff, participants and shareholders for their on-going support for our growing business during tricky times.

Back in November I mentioned that the Aim Rule 26 page of the website had not been reviewed or updated since 30th April 2020 ... I'm pleased to seee that it has now been reviewed and updated as of 18th Jan 2022:
Tomorrow could be interesting - although we've never had any AGM statement RNS release before so may have to rely on a report from someone attending the meeting.
Anyone decided to go to the AGM?

This does not directly involve W&W – 27 Jan 2022 ‘Fixed odds betting on thoroughbred racing in New Jersey’ to be rolled out in March 2022; - but could be pivotal for W&W who are a smidgen giddy to get involved in this area of the market.

Think we need some news before / by the AGM; other than being involved in the 'lobbying' around California, what have management worked on / progressed?
