It only counts as a capital gain or loss when you realise it.

So the question really is:

- what price did you buy at. And total value.
- what price did you sell at. And total value.

What is the difference. E.g. you bought £10k worth.
You sold at £1k. Your capital loss was £9k which you could use to offset against capital gains elsewhere (in that tax year).

But if you didn't sell you haven't realised a gain or loss.

With WEB they delisted, they didn't go bust.

If you didn't sell your shares you still own them, they still exist but in a private company. If that's the case you have realised a gain or a loss.

Anyone know how this is treated wrt being a loss wrt CGT ?

Can a person take the mid price (price to sell) on the last trading day as being the value of the shares

To get a number for capital loss

To reduce one's overall cap. gain during a year ?

Or because we still own the shares & the co. still exists is it not yet booked as a capital loss ????

Delisting everywhere - say this is likely to follow. Inability to sell their licences or get taken over is shocking. Poor management

...you talk about share bounces etc

Do you realise that these shares will be delisted ?
There will be no share price.

Talking about bounces blah blah has little connection this share imo....& that there will soon be no quoted price for it.

Another one of EK's dire stock picks. Hope he's doing OK, he hasn't done a diary post since August. I'm missing him, I've got money waiting to be lost.

Opportunity for quick traders for sure Terminator, but all we're playing for is a limited technical bounce. Sometimes it is a day or two at most before it fizzles out too.

Most of them do nothing. Sometimes I look at the rns news and the associated price of 0.0x price and you know nothing is going to happen, before it even opens! Or the market makers mark up the price, lure a few in, and then straight back down it goes as the big sellers come in.

I think out of those two hundred or so companies in dire Penny Punt Land, sat here wondering how many could actually go through the roof here. Maybe the odd few will surprise, but it is going to take something spectacular to change the trend and hold rallies for a big re-rating. It is going to have be MEGA news, transformational stuff, and then the volumes will go through the roof.

But that just isn't happening, but I'm sure most will be looking for those few.

All abit grim, but that's just the way it is.

Anywho, onward!

I was communicating with Ed Comins early 2022; thought they had an advantage in the market, in addition to the obvious potential of being bought out for their licences. However, left thinking that whatever their aim was, it wasn’t to grow watch & wager / webis, so sold up.
