greengiant, as you know i like to look at what is going on now rather than the past. Dewnters, spotco, and finishing touch, are all trading well for THIS year. AS most of the profit comes from them the outlook in my view is good. The sport side should go in a few weeks, [and debt with it].

Sale of entertainment - good

Media business - Performance was pretty much in line, albeit slightly down. No real concerns here, the current year looks promising

Footie business - Now this shows inept management. Let's see, 15 month sales and 15 month costs would result in lower profits. Really! So they wait until a year end trading statement to release that pearl of wisdom. How, many statements have they had prior to this to warn the market?

Reasonable, but not great and perhaps this kind of statement shows that JS is not the kind of person to be running this business. He has often whinged about how the market undervalues FAN, maybe that is because it undervalue the people leading FAN.

Okay statement and that is being kind - see no reason to continue to hold these above 3% and will sell below that figure. Will keep the majority tho'

the trading statement is a tad disappointing on first reading.

Lets home the AGM gives a bit more detail and hope. At saying that the share price factored in decimation which did not occour so we may get some upside.

have landed in London on the way to warmer climes. Will read the update in the morning and see if I am needed at the GM.

IHNC - I disagree about the rise before a TS or results based on prior history, I have checked the dates of previous ones and see no pattern.

Moved up on 2 x tiddly buys on PLUS. Would not hold my breathe for anything dramatic, but hope as always to be proven wrong. I can't see why the company could not have updated the market sooner and fear that this will be a brief update on the winter transfer window.

Fingers crossed all for tomorrow.

Lets face it the current share price is factoring little in to the business and significantly undervalues the Media business alone.

Therefore I believe the trading update would have to be pretty dire to see a significant fall from here.

Last time there was a rise before good results so this share is a bit leaky .. I would be cautious at the complete lack of movement today leading up to tomorrow

Tara, a bid? No I don't see it. The market is still rubbish for M&A, not saying it doesn't happen but not in the same volumes as 2 years ago.

Why not wait? It is a fair while off so it doesn't make sense. Also if I was FAN, and I was disposing the Sports business, I would look to keep the name of First Artist for the Sports business (that is that part of the businesses brand) and look to change the media part to Dewynters. The change in Articles allows for this.

Still of the view that we may get a bid at some stage, also why not just wait to the AGM for the rule changes.?? Any ideas.?

IHNC

I agree, I can't see this rising much until such time as the majority of the
Mezz debt (and some senior) has been repaid - and the only way the company can do this is through sale of non core assets.

As for rocketing - I hate that term, I am a lot happier if the share rises steadily over a period of time. All too often this has risen quickly only to fall back just as quick.

Can't see this rocketing as predicted by some but very happy for those holders if it does.

Always good to study how shares react for future purchases.

I was a bit worried first reading the RNS of the 28th Jan where it stated that the EGM was being held at 4pm on a Friday. Then I read about the update to be issued on the morning.

If it is good it should be a smooth ride for the directors later on in the day.

Also interesting to see that Waiting for Godot which is mentioned by the article is done by Dewynters as well as Avenue Q

dd776 - I doubt it, I see no reason for a tick up. Major reason being, that nobody knows what the market expectations are! I believe that there will be things said in the statement which are new, but communication between FAN and its shareholders is abysmal. The company is doing the right things in that it is divesting its non core assets, they now need to become more "professional" with their shareholders and learn the art of communication. Which is a strange request for a company that communicates with its customers so very well.

tsmith2 - Completely agree.
