Hi markth, Hmmm recognize the sentiment. However, I've come to realize that shorters will at some point have to be buyers - to close their position. As they tend to hunt in packs, they will overwhelm buyers and drive the market price down. On the plunge, many investors will see price drop as confirmation that the negative analysis is correct (say for example, that the Target Company is going to have to cut the dividend) and hold-off purchasing - further shifting the weight towards sellers rather than buyers. Then the stop-loss trades kick-in further exacerbating the fall. Eventually, the Target Company's share price is so low that they are paying a dividend, let's say for arguments sake, of 9% plus. Anyone that can recognize the pattern will see the opportunity that has been created. But then they are going to have to buy-back shares to cover their positions and the share price will start to kick-up.......

Well it looks like a clear break above 140p. Very chunky rise so far today, let's hope it holds to the close. I hope all these shorters burn slowly and horribly.

Short interest in ADRs seems to have peaked. https://images.fintel.io/us-vod-short-volume-ratio.png

Bears desperate to keep below the 140p resistance level. Bulls will win in the end break and hold 140p, then I see 145p quite quickly. Good tussle between bulls and bears.

Here we go if we can hold 140p I'm sure we will spike higher. 140p resistance, 140p becomes the new support level.

When the buybacks kick in last week of February, these surely must be a lot higher buying 4% it seems.Actually good for Vodafone if they can buy as cheap as possible.

Re the buy back.. Vod issued a mandatory convertible bond, a form of raising funds, in 2016. Being mandatory convertible means the bond holders HAVE to have the debt converted into shares, which (after dividends, etc during the loan period) means that the remaining bonds are being converted at an effective price of 180p per share. To prevent this diluting existing shareholders, vod will be rebuying the same number of shares at market prices, up to roughly £1.5bn. So they won't be paying 180p, but will pay whatever the market price is. I believe the buy back represents about 4% of the shares.

140p is a massive technical and psychological level for traders and investors. Algorithms would kick in, stop losses for bears kick in. Investors and fomo investors would pile in. 144p quite quickly. FOMO means Fear Of Missing Out investors. But 140p will we see it ?

So if I have understood correctly this buybacks is more in connection with the convertibles...than the normal share buy backs...if you know what I mean...hence it is a small amount of 799.1 mln...they don't want to issue news shares for the convertibles.. monty pls clarify..

9.76% yield if they had the pension legacy liabilities like BT, I would say no chance and cut inn half. But they don't.

Always nice to director buy, at this level with that yield surely a no brainer. You may say 54,000 pounds not a lot for a director, but even they don't like wasting money. It could be the bell ringing moment to follow him.

Confused by the share buyback.Would be good for someone to clarify why they would at 180p rather than market price. I do realise that the market price would prob go up from today's price but not if they bought gradually.Where do they get the 180p shares from
