01/10/2022 16:10 | Wasn't at the meeting so can't confirm but I believe the report written by CS is accurate in it's content based on other reports I've received. In the May statement, they had to report accurately based on the finances as they stood at that time. Time has moved on and I think we can safely say that progress has been made...we know that we have since launched our superparamagnetic material and signed a commercial agreement with BiaBrazil ...either of those two things or any of the other collabs we're involved in could have resulted in a situation which warranted the comment that a fund raise is not required (unless exceptional reasons)....or it could just mean that, as previously stated, there is no current plan or need to fundraise.... Sorry, that's probably not much help...my personal opinion is that they appear 'comfortable' in the current situation (as much as any company facing such turmoil can) | ![]() woodpeckers
01/10/2022 15:58 | I can confirm that grants, loans were ahead of share issue if fund raising required but not actively engaged in raising funds at the moment. The 400k monthly spend was required to achieve GSCALE, that may reduce as it completes(my thoughts). We voted to allow the company to buy back 10% of its shares, i don't remember voting on that in previous years, perhaps someone can correct me? | ![]() 772
01/10/2022 15:51 | Tini and CS, i was there too, good write ups, exactly how i saw it. The question about Enso and graphene was mine, i shrunk into my seat and thought i've got to read the boards less!!! They did say at the beginning that this was a presentation that they give to investors, but covered it with the caveat that they weren't actively looking, just spreading the word. I think the watchword was patience still required but the opportunities are massive, as if we didn't know. They are as disappointed in the share price as we are and it just makes them work harder, i could almost feel their frustrations with getting industry to stop doing what they have always done and embrace new technology. I left feeling upbeat despite the share price and look forward to hearing more news as we go forward. | ![]() 772
01/10/2022 15:41 | OK - so 2 reports (tini5 and CS) where fund raise not required (unless exceptional reasons) adds more weight to comment. Anybody else who went to AGM want to confirm? Reasons for potential fund raise mentioned by CS are (to me) significantly different to comment in interim statement: "The Directors have prepared detailed projections of expected future cash flows for a period of twelve months from the date of issue of this interim statement. These indicate that the Group will need to raise additional funding in the following financial year. The Board remains confident that the Group will be able to secure the required funding through strategic investment, equity issue or other financial instruments." The interim statement to me suggests they needed funding to cover normal running costs - not for exceptional buys (IP or business). So, what's changed? Have they sold enough product to cover running costs? This would be very positive. Just trying to joint the dots. Anyone else care to weigh in? | ![]() night terrors
01/10/2022 15:17 | Tini & CS, many thanks for your write-ups of the AGM, always good to read a balanced report. "Chris confirmed no current plans for fund raise"...good to have confirmation which backs up the May results. "with the caveat that this could change at any moment e.g. if an opportunity arose next week to buy a business or IP." ...also encouraging, backs up their original strategy... "We continue to Identify and acquire majority stakes in companies capable of commercialising graphene applications We are continually looking at potential acquisitions both in the UK and Europe to further expand our global presence and add to our range of 2-D materials." "Cautious optimism probably sums up the mood of the team." Always good to hear, looking forward to the future but wearing 'sensible shoes'..Focus at this stage is obviously important though not letting that focus blind you to an opportunity is equally so. "Steve Hodge was at the launch and they made the point that they were the only graphene material supplier involved." Sounds very positive, hopefully some of that grant will be coming VRS' way....Steve's a gem! Bia Brazil agreement sounds as though it ticks all the boxes...keep them coming guys! Great to have confirmation that we are directly involved with HS2...that could be a real earner and showcase just what we are capable of. On the negatives side... Energy/global landscape situation...no surprises there....no escaping world problems....and a shame GL's pellicles don't involve our IP...Concretene accreditation delay is a pain but I'm sure we're pushing as hard as we can and will get there... inertia in the industry is not really surprising bearing in mind the 'risk-off' current mood...ENSO obviously experiencing the same frustrations but their product relies on durability so I'd be surprised if we don't get there on that one too... Not going to put pressure on the guys to come up with 8 more products in the next 5 months but great that they feel so many are possible. I'm sure they are all working flat out and will do their best to rise to the challenge that they've set themselves. Look forward to seeing the presentation when it's uploaded. | ![]() woodpeckers
01/10/2022 15:10 | Great post CS, nice to see something based on fact and evidence rather than the incessant mud being slung by the trolls on this board recently. Also very good to hear the board confirm there are no plans for a fund raise, unless an opportunity presents itself. Sentiment in the share price may seem to be at an all time low, however the irony is that the potential has never been greater, with graphene squarely and publicly on the commercial short term roadmap for a number of global clothing brands. | ![]() matheus7777

01/10/2022 09:25 | Been a busy week. Finally looking at Bia Brazil which must have been a Gerdau introduction. Look to be bigger than Umbro. Will generate revenues this quarter for launch in early 2023. Be interesting to see if more clothing companies place orders for their Spring/Summer ranges. I’ve forgotten how many textiles companies they have been working with although a lot of them will be through the MAS Holdings agreement. | ![]() chillpill
01/10/2022 08:50 | I didn't attend the AGM and therefore I may not be best placed to be nit picking but after NR's past promotion of our company, an AGM statement within yesterday's RNS and a thank you on the CEO's twitter a/c to those who attended having made the effort and incurred cost would have been appreciated. | c140
01/10/2022 06:19 | ??TEXTILES & APPAREL IT'S A BIRD! IT'S A PLANE! IT'S... GRAPHENE?It's a Bird! It's a Plane! It's... Graphene?CARY SHERBURNESEPTEMBER 30, 2022 Graphene is a miracle material with the potential to revolutionize textiles.A thin flake of carbon, just one atom thick, it's not only the thinnest material ever but also the strongest. It conducts both heat and electricity, and is almost completely transparent. Yet it is so dense that not even helium, the smallest gas atom, can pass through it.?Caption: 3D Rendering of Graphene Molecular GridResearch into the various uses of graphene across many industries has advanced apace. It's now used in solar panels, screen technology and batteries. Adoption in textiles has been a bit slower but now seems to be picking up. Graphene can be used as a coating, covalently bonded into fiber itself, or added to apparel and other items as a conductive material for advanced wearables and sensors.Let's start with wearables with everyone talking about the Metaverse, connected wearables might even advance beyond their current role into a more expansive virtual reality role.About the MetaverseSo what is the Metaverse? It's basically an immersive virtual world in which participants use virtual and augmented reality headsets to socialize and game. At least that's what it is right now. However, its uses are bound to expand with the technology.Just like a social media presence has become essential for brands, so too will the Metaverse. And some experts are saying the time is now to start exploring how. We think that graphene will have a role to play, although exactly how much of a role is still TBD.How Can Graphene Benefit Textile Products?According to First Graphene, a leading supplier of graphene products sold under the PureGRAPH product brand, "The addition of graphene products to textiles can create a wide range of enhanced properties. For example, graphene-enhanced textiles are stronger and last longer, have excellent wear-resistance and thermal management. Not only can [graphene] improve the resistance to wear, abrasion and tearing, it also provides greater thermal and electrical conductivity. This opens up possibilities for smart textiles, wearable sensors and applications for data transmission."Thus the potential connection to the Metaverse.?Caption: Graphene blended yarn and fabricIt should also be noted that a great deal of work is ongoing with respect to graphene use in batteries. This is important in wearables, since a key limitation today is the weight and bulk of the power source for smart wearables. As one researcher pointed out to me, no one wants to lug around a pound of batteries in order to monitor their performance during a run. The promise of graphene-based power sources is that they are not only more durable and lighter weight, but they are more sustainable as well. There's still a ways to go before graphene enters the average person's daily life. But it's coming, and it will make a huge difference in many regards.Another benefit of adding graphene to textiles is its antibacterial properties. This paper published by the National Library of Medicine, part of the National Institutes of Health, provides more detail, but the bottom line, they found, is that "antibacterial tests show that [Graphene Oxide] GO-containing fabrics possess strong antibacterial property and could inactivate 98% of bacteria. Most significantly, these fabrics can still kill >90% bacteria even after being washed 100 times. Also importantly, animal tests show that GO-modified cotton fabrics cause no irritation to rabbit skin. Hence, it is believed that these flexible, foldable and re-usable GO-based antibacterial cotton fabrics have high promise as a type of new nano-engineered antibacterial materials for a wide range of applications. In other words, enhancing fabric with graphene is an important means of creating smart textiles with all kinds of advantages over traditional fabrics, even fabrics that are coated with other materials for specific purposes. The standard for most fabric coatings is that they survive 30 to 50 washings, and as we saw from the above research, graphene is still functional after 100 washings. In the case of covalently bonded graphene for fibers such as Kyorene from Graphene One, it's functional forever. Graphene One also tested toothbrushes enhanced with graphene, and found that a normal toothbrush, after two weeks of use, has a total bacteria count of over 700,000; while the graphene-enhanced toothbrush only had 600. Makes you think differently about common items like a toothbrush. And you don't need to add much graphene for it to have an effect. For example, in the world of building materials, you only need to add about 33 grams of graphene per metric ton of concrete to strengthen it, according to The Graphene Council. Kyorene can be effective with as little as 1% graphene in the fiber, although more may be used depending on the desired results.Graphene is especially gaining popularity for use in enhancing athletic apparel, whether it is adding strength to fabrics that undergo a significant amount of stress during usage, for thermal or odor control or to create smart athletic clothing.According to ACS Material, a provider of graphene, it "allows users to monitor their performance and health, including heart rate and optimum movements. Additionally, there are developments in progress to improve carbon fiber composites with graphene, which could be highly useful in sports equipment such as ski jackets and trousers for example."The company also touts graphene's thermal properties."Graphene | ![]() fireball xl5
