12/4/2019 08:20 | On the bed & Isa front I am now into day 5 with II! I have it in writing that it would have been completed by close of business yesterday.....but it was not. Ordinarily I would have been shouting down the phone by now but I am in Ukraine and the cost to do that would be eye watering... Next year I will do it myself. Lesson learned! P. | ![]() pandeck
12/4/2019 08:06 | I'm surprised at HL, found the B&I very painless for tax years starting in 2017 and 2018. Very poor this year, I ended up cancelling the online instruction and executing over the phone. Cost me a few hundred but slept better last week. I'm sure some here are now outside of the 4 working days expectation as set by HL. I'd be on the phone complaining loudly by now... | ![]() tini5

12/4/2019 07:24 | Neill deals with singapore per poddy. Wonder if opportunities could arise if graphene research/investment is being stepped up there? Aimo. Best ellis 'Nobel Laureate Konstantin Novoselov joins NUS.' 04 April 2019 | Research,&nbs 'First Nobel-prize winner to join a Singapore university.' "The National University of Singapore (NUS) today announced that Nobel Prize-winning physicist Professor Sir Konstantin ‘Kostya’ Novoselov FRS will join NUS as Distinguished Professor of Materials Science and Engineering on 8 April 2019. Prof Novoselov has been an international scientific advisor to the NUS Centre for Advanced 2D Materials since 2015. He will be the first Nobel Laureate to join a Singapore university. The man behind graphene, the revolutionary supermaterial Prof Novoselov and Professor Sir Andre Geim were awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 2010 for their ground-breaking achievements with the two-dimensional material graphene. Then 36, Prof Novoselov was the youngest Nobel Laureate in Physics since 1971 and the youngest overall since 1992. The joint discovery of graphene by Prof Novoselov and Prof Geim not only led to the discovery of a new material that is the world’s most conductive, stretchable and strongest, it also opened up an entirely new area of multidisciplinary research. Prof Novoselov will continue to have an academic presence at The University of Manchester – the birthplace of graphene – which will further strengthen Singapore’s links with Europe. Prof Novoselov notes that there are many industries that could benefit from the potential of graphene, whose applications range from electronics and optoelectronics to ion separation and biological membranes. Graphene is considered by many to be one of the most exciting materials in technological research. It is being tested in desalination filters that produce clean drinking water, batteries, next-generation LED bulbs and solar cells. Prof Novoselov said, “I’m really excited by Singapore’s strong focus on research and exploration. I have seen first-hand the passion, resilience and spirit of innovation of the University’s talented researchers, particularly in the multidisciplinary area of materials science. “I am fascinated by the idea of creating and exploring the properties of novel materials. Singapore and NUS are at the forefront of creating such materials and discovering novel applications for them. There is a strong commitment to innovation in Singapore, so I believe we can accelerate research translation and produce the next great technology here. I very much look forward to working with my colleagues at NUS and in Singapore to make this ambition a reality.” NUS President Professor Tan Eng Chye said, “Professor Sir Kostya Novoselov and NUS have had a long friendship. We have for many years admired his pioneering work in the area of graphene and 2D materials as well as his relentless drive to chart new paths. “We are thrilled that Kostya is joining NUS, and that he will contribute to the scientific community at NUS and in Singapore. This is a reflection of the vibrancy of the Singapore research community and a resounding recognition of the high quality of research applications produced by our faculty.” Professor Ho Teck Hua, NUS Senior Deputy President and Provost, said, “We are incredibly proud that Professor Sir Kostya Novoselov will be a member of the NUS and Singapore community. We hope that many of our young Singaporean researchers will be inspired by his commitment to research excellence and his drive to create new materials and develop novel applications for them. “Our researchers will benefit greatly from having the opportunity to collaborate with Kostya and his lab on exciting research opportunities, to sharpen the spirit of innovation and experimentation at NUS.” The artistic scientist Beyond his highly noted work in physics, Prof Novoselov is also an artist who trained in traditional Chinese art in China. The reductionist approach in traditional Chinese art, he says, ties in nicely with his background in physics. Among other innovations, Prof Novoselov has used graphene ink in his paintings. He also often steps out of his lab to collaborate with other artists on installations and exhibitions. “The most exciting breakthroughs are often created at the crossroads between disciplines. The same is applied to art as well, where new media and new techniques can result in very exciting developments. NUS has made impressive strides in materials science and multidisciplinary research applications. It is the leading university in Singapore, in the heart of Asia, where technology is growing at a phenomenal pace. It makes great sense – and science – for me to be at NUS and in Singapore,” said Prof Novoselov. At NUS, Prof Novoselov will lead a new research group focussing on intelligent materials. The group aims to discover interesting combinations of materials that can behave as intelligent sensors and microcomputing devices. He is passionate about collaborating with a new team of PhD students and professors. He will also serve as an ambassador for science and technology in Singapore, to the world." | ![]() ellissj

12/4/2019 07:11 | HL seems to be a common theme. I was considering moving to HL and Barclays did a couple of switches (now smart investor) and it became useless for the trading account side. However, on the bed and isa side it was virtually instant, just a click and just 28 shares lost in the process. It's seems mad that there is a chasm on that type of service between one provider and another. | ![]() superg1

12/4/2019 07:02 | How is the Bed and Isa thing going. Anyone here still waiting for their provider to execute it. Imo it's not a good time to try it when everyone else does. I normally just wait, but not this year as to wait for me had a high chance of being able to transfer less shares across. | ![]() superg1
12/4/2019 07:00 | Thanks snoopy. Odd to get a sensible reply with such a response with little knowledge of the company. I did date it was a flippant view though. I did have read of some posts which seem to include a lot of bought some more and so on, shares tight. Also some names that typically do that and hang around for as long as they can get away with a pump and dump. That's not picking on the share spike shares attract the pump and dump crew. House of cards building on the pump/dump side but where the top layer is nobody knows. I'll be interested to see what happens when it turns. I hope it continues to fly for all PIs. I recall going on about Falanx privately (many moons ago) and where would that turn. It went form something like 6p to 60p without drawing breath then down to 10p and now it's under 3p. TW and co have been pumping that POS for years. A recent example is TERN, some warned about it. Within at the last year under 3p to mid 40's and now a smidge over 7p. I hope some here that had quite a few cashed in. The price rise was largely driven by an exuberant bunch with money and the herd joining in. | ![]() superg1
