At the risk of telling Grandma how to suck eggs, my explanation of the various columns and apparent anomalies you have seen are:
There are separate totals for the two exchanges, LSE and NEX. In the example above, the lines with the lower totals (eg 35301 under Buy Vol) are the NEX exchange and the lines with the higher totals are the LSE. If you now do the cumulations separately with only the relevant lines, the cumulative totals do work.
The Buy Sell columns are simply defined automatically on whether the deal price is either above or below the mean of bid and offer prices at that time. The ? column is for deals at exactly the mean which are therefore indeterminate.

Apologies, as I may have asked this before, but the answer didn't sink in. What are the Buy and Sell volumes on the right-hand columns? They're not cumulative chronologically.

The ? Vol column has always been a mystery.

This is the last hour of Level 3 on ADVFN this afternoon. I can't see how they relate to the actual buy and sell quantities:

Very odd price action in the 2 mins prior to close.2 sells for 129p went through, and the mid price shot up to 133p, so I assumed it was a ploy in order to show a drop when the market opens tomorrow.But I quickly logged in to my dealing account and they would take 25k off me at 130p at the Bell.I therefore expected to see a late reported buy, but nothing has shown up yet.
