08/9/2018 12:31 | I must say, I have no great desire to see large II holdings. Why: 1) - VRS has so very few shares, that an II investing or subsequently divesting, will have a significantly disruptive effect on the sp, probably over a fair number of months. (The upside of course being that with a depressed price it gives pi's an opportunity to grab more, providing the BB intelligence gathering makes it as clear as possible that there is not a negative underlying reason for the sale). 2) Most II's wouldn't think twice about getting out with a nice profit if there was a hostile take-over bid. For them it's almost always 'a bird in the hand ...'. Cheers - Spike | ![]() spike_1
08/9/2018 12:27 | Looking at that list ax the stock is well in the hands of PIs. Would make it extremely difficult for takeover by some opportunistic group. | ![]() pshevlin
08/9/2018 12:16 | II shareholders - I got to see a reliable list and commented in a previous post (a couple of weeks ago I think!). It mirrored what’s on the VRS website for top shareholders and the IIs hold somewhere between 5-10%. Certainly no more although that list was dated end of June so who knows what’s happened since then. | lovat scout
08/9/2018 12:08 | Ax, I would take that to be accurate as at 25/26th July when the company was informed about W Battricks holding position at the time (as per the holdings RNS at the time). The holding RNS had his position as being 3.23% which matches what you have posted. However, we do know that there has been some very strong selling since then by some of the funds, perhaps SG could provide some clarification as to possible current status. Can we speculate that it was accurate at the end of July but is materially different now? | ![]() 1retirement
08/9/2018 11:40 | Transport by airship? ;-) Or kit out a large aircraft AS a Nanene factory; land it wherever needed; produce on the spot. ;-) (Have a word with Richard Branson; might lend us one) | ![]() grabster
08/9/2018 11:31 | Post 31752 - "My failings outnumber my successes many times." And so they should if you are doing things right ;-) If you hold your winners, but zap your losers early, you will have lots of small losses. It doesn't matter if losses outnumber wins - as long as they don't outweigh them. It took me a while to twig that when I first started. Like many beginners I held off from crystallising a loss because I didn't want yet another of them logged - and in doing so allowed the loss to get bigger before I eventually did close it. :-o Quite a lot of successful traders/investors are happy with a negative win/loss ratio, of say 60% lost and 40% won. Because the 40 'won' ones that were held onto will have grown to be much bigger fish than the 60 'lost' ones which were zapped when smallfry. Wins don't need to outnumber losses; they need to outweigh them. | ![]() grabster
08/9/2018 11:27 | I guess it depends where you look, pshevlin; this is from VRS's own website. There must be a definitive up-to-date table somewhere? | ![]() axotyl
08/9/2018 11:26 | I reckon its impossible to do a broker note with the way things are rapidly changing all the time. things looking good here...it was said ages ago to go meet nr and the team and you will not be disappointed, it looks like that is happening more and more. looking forward. | ![]() jointer13
08/9/2018 11:22 | Spike In future golf bags will now be hammer sacks. I like that a lot. I have never played golf other than the crazy kind but I dream on. I really am only a small time recent investor My failings outnumber my successes many times. VRS looking very promising tho. John | smallfry1
08/9/2018 11:19 | If a broker (other than the house broker) wishes to publish a broker note, I presume they are free to do so without any prior contact? In which case - with the sheer number of announcements that VRS put out - there is every chance of note publication coinciding with, or almost coinciding with, some news that confounds it ;-) | ![]() grabster
08/9/2018 11:01 | Where are the II funds under management in that. Must be a few million? | ![]() pshevlin
08/9/2018 10:53 | FUM = Funds under Management, Double? | ![]() axotyl
08/9/2018 10:41 | Hi axotyl, I'm just a long term lurker here with a nice holding of shares. I have nothing to add to the superb posts here on VRS - far more knowledgeable folk here! However, to answer your question above as to why HL is split into two. The HL Stockbrokers will hold shares for the likes of you and me and anybody else who holds VRS shares in their nominee account. The HL Asset Management is a different arm and they are have FUM in which they obviously hold nearly 8% of VRS. My guess is it would be their growth portfolio but there are others. EDIT: Funds Under Management | ![]() doubleorquits
08/9/2018 10:40 | Feeling very fortunate to have come across this bb and the insight provided by members has been invaluable to me, I have learnt a lot in a short space of time and continue to do so, so once again thanks folks | ![]() haz101
08/9/2018 10:39 | Looks well out to me ax. I'm pretty sure Miton don't have that many left but Super will have a better idea. | ![]() pshevlin
08/9/2018 10:31 | I haven't been paying attention to our previous discussions on VRS shareholders; the table below is on MarketScreener today. Is it way out-of-date, or reasonably accurate? Edit - and why is HL split into two? | ![]() axotyl

08/9/2018 09:51 | With all the collaborations now in place the word will continue to snowball. With very few sellers around over the last few days, at a time when markets have been nervous, it feels like we will continue to see new highs. | ![]() chillpill
08/9/2018 09:47 | Ridicule, Re post AGM grub. Sorry but I completely forgot ;0( I'll email Nigel Laughton early next week and see what he thinks. Cheers - Spike | ![]() spike_1
08/9/2018 09:42 | Nothing wrong with that. Steve jobs used to ask potential new employees if they had ever taken lsd, as the people who have can see the world in more ways and are generally more creative. | ![]() 1teepee
08/9/2018 09:33 | superg1 - PRSM's take-off from around the same price VRS now is, has taken about 2 years to pass £25. Were VRS shares to echo that trajectory, the share price will be over £25 by the end of 2020. Up roughly 16-fold from now. (ie, fourfold each year). Perfectly feasible imo. (I don't have a good chart in front of me to determine how accurate that is - perhaps someone else can refine it) | ![]() grabster
08/9/2018 09:32 | Spike, I have just got to your outstanding post. Many thanks, very illuminating, very amusing, very exciting. Many thanks for your effort writing such a great piece. You did mention the concept of a lunch after the AGM or a get together. I will not be there the night before, But have you moved any further forward on any get-together following the event? | ![]() ridicule
08/9/2018 09:29 | Unsurprisingly Neill's Twitter following appears to be at an all time high - followers now number 2,251. It will be interesting to see the bearing of future RNS' and the resulting geographical breakdown. I suspect Neill's at the foothills of going global. | anotherdrink |
