From recent posts there are a number of reasons for investing here. One reason mentioned is a nest egg for their children. The IHT benefits of AIM shares has been mentioned.
If you are investing with one eye on future benefits for your children/grandchildren why not invest in their name(s)instead of your own account. That way IHT doesn't come into play. I have set up both SIPP and ISA accounts for my children. I set up an account in this case with A J Bell. You have to have an account in your own name but just needs £1 in it then your children open an account and send an instruction giving you investment control. You can invest (gift) them up to £3k/year or £6k/year for a married couple. In a SIPP if they're tax payers they get a further boost from the tax relief which is added to the £3k.
The only minor nuisance is that you can't transfer money yourself directly into their accounts you have to transfer money to them and they transfer it into their account. You can do it by setting up a couple of standing orders if you wish. The other way is to gift shares from your account to theirs with no charges if you want to do it that way.
Which ever way you do it it removes the IHT question.

Below is an excerpt from the blog of Dr. Zina jarrahi Cinker dated 21/6/18.

Just when it seems when you have thought of all the products graphene can make improvements to

Coffee with Michael Swisher from SmartStripe which is a Lighted HyperData Platform that is built to replace existing road strips. Quite interesting innovation, Smartstripe is looking into graphene for the next step in the development. Michael will be showcasing smartstripe at the Global Graphene Expo in Oct.

One more thought Chimp. Game Theory suggests we have a better chance of overall gains not neccesarilly by making good decisions but by avoiding the bad decisions, ie you live to fight another day. However the spectacular gains are made when the stars align, recognising that to be the case and committing. There is no reason why you can’t do both at the same time if you allocate resources accordingly.

Disinterested in the Money Sections. Now why would that be?Nothing as gripping as here by miles, leagues , and even bigger measurements. Increased ratio of VRS to my other stocks last week. They are SEE and RedT. RedT performed better than VRS last week but tortoise and hare applies. We have more sectors segments and verticals horizontals and geographies than can be imagined. My first investment was M and G recovery unit trusts in the 60s.I got things right until I discovered AIM.I recall Murray and Co of Birmingham saying the gun had gone off just before Christmas 1972, I should have made stacks in that decade. Town and city property warrants ...256 bagger. Now that's a challenge for Neill.Which he'll meet.Fellow B.B. ers will recall PRM , Bioprogress to mention but two.Shudder. The fully listed main market Torortrak was a huge disappointment. Strangely confident here though. delete strangely.I like disruptors , I spotted the microprocessor when at a mainframe company.....but never quite got into the make a worthy amount saddle. .Could go on - but I won't. Partly because SPA is formula 1s best track.

"I dont think there's any point Vrs paying for newspaper publicity"
I agree. I am suspicious of any company that considers it a useful tactic; it kinda suggests they lack confidence to make it unaided.

CHF I dont think there's any point Vrs paying for newspaper publicity the best publicity they will get is when they start to get the big orders signed off and then everyone will know about the company.

I am happy to take sensible risks at this point but will try to avoid binary bets. I am well aware that I stumbled upon VRS by complete accident and it is not down to me being clever. As of yet I have no metrics to follow when searching for a new share to follow. (Continuing to top up VRS for now anyway)

Thanks johnveals. I'm 28 so I am looking at long term growth investment at the moment. Not bothered about dividends yet. VRS is my only holding at the moment but only a very modest holding.

Superg I’ve mentioned before here I’m a newbie to investing, I had a great interest in my early teens and subscribed to HL magazine but took it no further then, I think having no other ppl I knew that invested in the market to give me advice and no such thing as the internet being the main reasons I didn’t start at that time, life also seemed to get in the way, After a holiday with a seasoned American PI cousin of mine in June I had the confidence to set up an account on an online trading platform and start trading in a small way till I learnt the ropes, i dabbled in a few shares and read as much info as I could from the usual suspects, my favourite was checking the performance charts to try and spot trends and if a company was undervalued, I then would do research to ascertain if the market had overlook anything, it was during this period that I came across the Advfn board and I have to say from a novice point of view It has been invaluable to me, I’d like to once again thank you for posting such informative posts, my cousin told me never invest as much as u can afford to lose, I’m trying to stick to that but it just keeps getting more exciting! Regards Haz

Chimp - I only started in anger a couple of years ago when I retired and took full control of my SIPP, I also had an ISA but was not active in managing it.

For me the big question would be to understand your objectives and attitude to risk as a first step, age would be a major factor also, then you can look at strategy.

There are so many different games to play on the stock markets and what fits one will not necessarily fit another.

And remember the old adage "if you are not paying for it then you are the product".

The Defensive Value Investor by John Kingham gives some useful insights, particularly into some metrics, but Versarien would NEVER have made it into his portfolio.

Do we think it would benefit VRS if they paid to be included in the daily 'markets update' in newspaper? Might get wider recognition?

Interesting super, the team is certainly expanding fast.

Cheek, it says Peter joined twitter on 15th Aug which was the day he joined VRS...

I think Matt Walkers comments on Twitter re welcoming Peter Jay is due to him joining Twitter, not VRS as it looks like he has only just joined in the past few days.
